Dang, youtube is taking its sweet time. I never really over-rev it. The only time I can think of is when I floor it or launch it, it will redline before changing gears. But I don't do that very often.
I've actually lost quite a bit of coolant. Also I checked my oil dipstick and it was past full. Just something I thought was out of the ordinary. |

both of those point to a blown gasket or cracked head, if wasn't for the excessive smoking I would have suspected the oil cooler area(if you have one, if not that gasket) it's rare the 4.6l blowing a head gasket,n/a

nope
and if your loosing antifreeze thats bad... also check your anti freeze and make sure theres not Oil in it if there is you have a cracked head! and thats BAD! your looking anywhere from 500- 1000+ fix x.x for a cracked head. and a fix for a head gasket prolly wont cost any where near that I am not sure never really dealt with those that much head gasket will vary

My antifreeze had its normal color. It was just low.
This Steel Seal and ThermalWeld stuff, you supposedly just pour it in where your coolant goes and it will seal cracked heads and blown head gaskets. I've been searching around and a lot of people who have tried it are saying that it works. I just wanted to see if anyone here had tried it since I trust the people here more than what shows up on google searches. |

I don't know the product you are talking about, but I have used silver solder stop leak fix and it has worked for me on several occasions, however it should only be used as a temp repair till you get it fixed, no stop leak product is a perm. fix
edit: I think thats the name of it, looks like metal shavings in a tube

It may work.. but like Limited said . it is a very temporary fix. you still need get your car fixed asap before more harm is done. and if your car has a blown head gasket I wouldn't drive it you will end up tearing up more crap and no body want's that

Well, I'm going to attempt to change out the head gaskets myself this weekend. What's a good list of things I will need before I get started?

1. love ur cars sound.
2.that's a very mild white smoke. 3. Stick ur finger inside ur tail pipe (not when its hot) and see if U feel water! That looks more like condensation!

we have a lot more condensation now due to the poorer quality of gasoline. You should be ok. Thick white smoke, like enough that you cant see anything at all through it, then you should worry

Well, that is great news. I haven't really noticed any performance degrades. But how do I explain the lowered coolant levels? It wasn't terribly low, my mechanic put coolant in it last and I never looked so I don't know how much he put.
There is one thing I noticed, it could be completely unrelated, but when my engine is warm and I change gears, say from Drive to Reverse, my tach dips below 500 then comes back up to normal idle. Or when I'm at a complete idle, and I gas it and release really quick, after I release my tach will dip down and only once did it dip down low enough for my engine to stall. I will finger my exhaust later on tonight to check for water. |
