Super Car Pump
Does anyone recall the max you can put down to the wheels before you peg the duty cycle on the super car pump? I did some searches and came up with nothing and I'm on 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours, so any help would be appreciated.

With or without a BAP? Im running a single pump GT pump with the bap, but also have the stage 2 fpdm. Run 100% duty cycle right as i let off at 6k ish. Im at 500rwhp on mustang dyno.

No BAP. I'm going to be adding an aluminator to the mix with aftercooler, 3.33 pulley, LT headers, catted x pipe, so I don't think I'll max it out since I'll put putting down way less than that. I'll be running stock heads and cams for the time being. I know it sounds like a silly build not to upgrade the heads and cams, but money talks.
Thanks for the info BTW. |

So aluminator = forged?
And you should be ok at 400 hpish im sure. Might be close without a bap though.

Yeah, it's forged with Manley rods, Mahle pistons, forged cobra crank, and ARP bolts every where. If worse comes to worse I'll try the aviator pump that Jivepepper has mentioned in the past on the boards. IIRC, it flows better than the supercar pump, but is hella expensive. That will at least get me by until I can afford a return style setup.

The 255 lph aviator? The supercar is 310 lph. And he runs dual aviators. And they are bit more expensive.
If your forged you should be grabbing a cobra hat, which comes with the pumps, get a 40 amp bap. And crank up boost for 550 hp or so (600 rpm is limit with dual cobra, and bap).

during my time on MM... it seems that everyone SAYS this pump is good for 500rwhp but i have yet to see one hit that. I watch others and myself peg this pump at about 425 or so. Just what ive seen. I would go ahead and drop in the dual cobra setup.

yeah Cobra tank would be better...or just put a 40amp BAP on there and your fine with your stock block for now and you then can carry over your 40amp BAP with the Cobra tank.

I would recommend getting cobra hat with a bap and being good to go. You should aim for growth, not to settle. Especially when it saves you money in long run (and time).

Yeah i know lol. Single pump... Should really do dual pump setup while in there. Especially if your forged, wasting money having a forged motor with 400 hp :p

Thanks for the info guys...finally got 11 hours of sleep to recover from being up for almost 2 days and 2 hours of sleep.
RyanGT I do remember Jive running two aviator pumps now that you mention it. Thanks for setting me straight. If I'm going to have to upgrade the fuel I'll go return style. I'll either go with Lethal's dual pump return style or Glenns Performance 1000 hp dual walbro sleeper tank setup. That is unless I can find slightly used aero a1000 pump, press reg, and filters...then I'll go with his build your own fuel system route. I'm not sure what's going to be best to go with as far as budget goes. I haven't looked into a BAP yet, so I don't know how much those cost. I'm going to research that, too. I'll see what I can find. That might be even cheaper on the budget and still get me to where I want to be. Last edited by Black Bullitt; March 14th, 2010 at 06:34 AM. |

I'm not too knowledgeable concerning the returnless fuel setups using BAP and the whole FPDM stage 2 stuff. I really don't know what I need. I did find this and hoping to get a response back on it. Let me know what you guys think.

Wait are you going return style or returnless? There are tons of guys with 800 hp with returnless still. Just need a good turner (and no pprv). Im currently running 42's but have capped em out and need to upgrade to 60's. Baker has 60's.
If you are planning on going past the short block amount in the future, get 60's. If not, save the 100 bucks and get 42's. Hell there are millllllions of used 42's out there for cheap. For dumbasses like me that have to upgrade injectors yet again. You won't need a stage 2 fpdm unless going with dual pumps like the supercar or aviator. If you are just doing the cobra hat and pumps for now you won't need it. Although i would recommend doing the wiring upgrade with the BAP's. The link you posted for the return line setup. That is a good deal. What you would need in addition is the actual line. And a return style fuel rail. Not sure if you need to upgrade to -8an for the fuel rail input line. The return line looks to be -6an.

I was hoping to get the hat, pumps, and BAP and use it for returnless. It will work for the power level I'm trying to achieve. I'm hoping the -6 bulk head can be capped off and used later if I decide to go return. Don't know if that's possible. If it's not possible and has to be used as a return style would this work to complete the setup?
http://www.lethalperformance.com/99-...-rails-p-29330 BTW, I already did the PPRV delete when I installed my single supercar pump. Basically I have right around 1k to spend on getting a good fuel setup rather it's return or returnless. At this point it doesn't matter to me which way I go as long as it's reliable and supplies the fuel I'm going to need to get to the 500 mark with some room for growth just in case. lol Last edited by Black Bullitt; March 14th, 2010 at 10:59 AM. |

Yeah dude, get that setup then. You should be able to cap it somehow and be good to go! I would do wiring upgrade while you are there. Also, you need stage 2 fpdm with that. Not positive its in there, posting from phone not gonna chase links hehe.

Well, the boss has spoken...looks like the aluminator is out of the question now. I guess I'll ride out the stock block a little longer. I guess that def. opens up the ability to go with a return style setup and source a used cobra tank.
The said cobra fuel hat, super car pumps, and BAP are available. It is set up for return style, so I think this is going to work. Down side is I need to find a fuel level sending unit and float since it doesn't come with it. He ended up swapping them over to his fore triple pump setup. With dual supercar pumps do you still have to do the FPDM stage 2 in a return style setup? I assume you do...just getting verification. Last edited by Black Bullitt; March 14th, 2010 at 01:20 PM. |
