Hey guys one question.

Hey im new to the Mustang modded forums. And im sure this question has been asked. I tried searching for it but came up with a whole bunch of different answers not related to my question. So if this has been asked before please bare with me if this is just another stupid question.

Ok the question:

I have a 2000 mustang GT and my question is that I took off my straight pipes that ran to my mufflers so no cats! but I had all the o2 censors hooked up but without the cats I had this guys tell me that running without cats was terrible for my car. is this correct? I know nothing of the back pressure and stuff like that. So I went ahead and put my stock exhaust back on. Which made me sad cause my car does not sound like a monster no more. There are no mods really done to my car sept the cold air intake But I did give her a nice tune up with new plugs intake gasket etc.. My question is running straight pipes to my flow master exhaust really that bad for my car? Thanks for the prompt response.

Straight pipes as in 100% SINGLE straight pipes on each side? Or still using an x or h pipe just with no cats?

There is nothing wrong with not running cats. Most people around here are doing so. On the other hand I wouldnt run a single straight pipe on each side to your catback. Its good to have an x or an h pipe/crossover pipe to help equalize the pressure.

no its not bad for the car. you may not be able to pass emission tests (if your state requeres them) & you will need some way to shut off CEL, but other than that you'll be fine.

I live in Florida so yeh no emissions crap lol ! but yes straight x pipe sorry forgot to add that. but thanks yeh I get no check engine lights or nothing like that I just wanted to be on the safe side and ask someone who actually owned a mustang. This is my second mustang i've owned I owned a 93 5.0 HOE and may she rest in peace. But I love my 2000 GT mustang and got it for a great steal. 2k With only 97k miles! I kinda think that this guy who told me lives in my neighbor hood and probably he was pissed listening to my mustang at 6:00 in the morning LOL so he came to me with that bs story! but thanks guys for the fast response. Much respect for this forum did not expect to get such a fast answer. But im going to continue trying to make this gt into a beauty and keep you guys posted.
