cobra fuel hat leaking

After I installed my dual cobra pumps I noticed the tank would leak terribly when full so I dropped it again and realized I forgot to tighten the fuel hat bolts all the way. Now they are tight and the tank is still leaking when full but not as much. Does the hat need any sealant to go in the gt tank?

I didn't put any sealant on mine. I think there is a gasket. Are you sure its leaking from the hat and not the filler tube?

I can't really say for sure where it's leaking from since I can't see the top of the tank when it's installed and full. It's definitely not the filler neck and it's dripping on the driver's side onto the exhaust.

you can't drive it like that, it would be super dangerous! Check all the fittings and the gasket. Maybe seal the hat with rtv. how much is it leaking?

lol i've been doing it for a couple of weeks now.. it only leaks when it's all the way full up.. its leaking like a drop per second? I'm wondering if the pumps are touching the bottom of the tank and not allowing the hat to close all the way. I don't want the sealant to dissolve into the fuel or anything like that.

I'm pretty sure rtv is fuel proof, but not totally sure. I would double check the gasket and make sure the evap stuff is stuck in there good. My guess is the seal is bad or not fit in there right.

Yea I was gonna say put some RTV around the hat man. Is it definatley the fuel hat? Not like the inlet line to the fuel filter? Or the filter itself?

Also, question for ya, you can run twin Cobra pumps in a non sumped tank? So could I run twin ford GT pumps in the stock GT tank? But the sumped tank lets you run it below a 1/4 tank right?

I would invest in a new fuel hat gasket and a filler neck gasket. Especially a filler neck gasket. Usually when you drop a gas tank you always run the risk of ripping that gasket...ask me how I know. lol

No way i'm buying another gasket.. I've bolted the stock hat down at least 10 times without it leaking and this hat is brand new with a brand new gasket and everything.. I've already replaced the filler neck gasket and it's not leaking.
