Dyno Results
Hey guys, sorry for being late on this. Well my camera died halfway through the first pull, so sorry. No vids. But to say the least, I was dissapointed.
Vortech V1 headunit, FMIC, 3.33 pulley Made: 340rwhp and 320rwtq...ONLY at 6.1lb of boost. VERY low boost. My tuner told me, the stock Vortech intake really chokes it off. He told me to do a AFM Powerpipe, and re-tune (only $75) and if I want after, do a smaller pulley. The car feels good, its obviously, faster and pulls good. But, 6lb of boost killed me.

Sorry about the dissapointment man. Yeah 6lbs isn't much on any fi setup. Now just throw a 2.9x pulley on and get it retuned. Oh and those are decent numbers so don't feel bad.

Glad to see u finally got the it done...but only 6lbs even with the 3.33 pulley?
That worries since I'll be putting in a similar setup. Did you check for a any leaky couplers?

Do the AFM power pipe. Also try a 3.2-3.0 pulley if you're still low on boost.

Yea no boost leaks, but Im double checking everything tomorrow. Its accually pretty good power for only 6psi. Im just surprised it was so low.

Thanks baker. He told me the power pipe would definatley let more air flow in, and that the stock vortech intake was the restriction. I hope so, he said typical gains are 2-3lb of boost....is that right? And usually how much rwhp per lb of boost? Like 15?

You could be getting pressure drop through your intercooler. I opted not to get a Powerpipe because I thougt it would add too much boost with a 3.33 pulley...now I may change my mind.

More like 10hp for 1psi. But if you pick up 3psi from just the pipe you might wait to swap pulleys.

to be honest with you, going from the procharger inlet to the AFM, i really didnt notice anything and i wouldnt get it again. I would instead build my own. Ive seen some BADASS ones before that were homemade. It was badass. It was a local guy here that made it. I almost sold mine to make one like his but didnt do it.

IIRC you dynoed at 260 before the vortech. Well if that is so you are making 13.33 rwhp per PSI.

not bad man...but 3.33 pulley making 6 psi...something is off. Procharger(i know different) told me a 3.6 should make 10psi but I got the 3.4 just incase.

Ebay ic's cool well but are restrictive. An ic that is designed to cool well has to do so by having more fins/surface area for the air to come in contact with so heat can be transfered. I have seen procharger ic's flow better but not cool quit as well than the 2 ebay ic's I have used. Cooler air allows for safer operation (less detonation) and more timing for power. A free flowing IC allows for more boost to the motor but higher temps so a trade off. Plus some head units are less efficent and run hotter than others when pushed.
Plus V1's like we have, have less of a internal step up ratio than the V2 and a lot less than the P1SC/D1SC. So it will take a smaller pulley to see the same boost at the motor than the others.
