When to get 31 spline axles and diff.


at what point (HP wise) is it necessary to upgrade to 31 spline axles and diff.? I plan on having about 400 to the wheels....would I need to upgrade or could I get away with stockers...thanks

well are you running slicks or drag radials at the track? if so then upgrade. if not, your street tires will never hook enough to break axles

yes....drag radials, probably the Nittos or BFGs (315s)

I have seen near stock Machs snap axles on drag radials. They were probably around 280 rwhp. The stock 28 spline axles are crap and will snap if enough force (torque) is applied.

i havent went to 31's yet. i ran slicks at the last part of the year without a problem. but the 31 spline set up is about to be ordered. it is alway a good idea to get a 31 spline set up when abuse is in the cars future.

I say as soon as you can swap up if you are going to do any serious drag racing...

I have saw them snap at 280rwhp and I have saw them snap at 450rwhp...Its all up to how much abuse you give it...

I would not give that for a trak-loc...For that price I would go ahead and get an eaton diff...
