Cobra R hood?

Will the Cobra R hoods align well on our GT's with the stock bumper? Will there be much of a gap?

Also what do you guys think of a flat black Cobra R hood on a silver GT? Yes or no? How would it look just to paint it flat black and clear coat over it?

What's the difference between the 95 style and the 2000 style? The 2000 has a louver vent and the 95 doesn't, right?

So we got that outta the way, 95 is the way I wanna go.

Now what about painting it flat black on my silver car? What about flat black that's been cleared over?

It depends. If you flat black it then do a regular clear it with be gloss black. But most body shops can use a flat black with a flat clear to give it the nice flat look but still have the clear protection

Youll need to put flattener in the clear, or it will still be glossy. I think itll look like shit like the rest of the multi colored cars running around but thats just my opinion. Its your car do what will make you happy/what you think will look best not other people.

JayC...It says on the AM that they come unpainted, so does that mean it comes in black primer?

i dont know what they were thinking when they designed the 2000 cobra r hood. It just seems so ugly to me. The 95 however kicks ass.

what would look really nice is if you did the outside in the body color of your car and then did the center section of he hood in matte black.

It'll be a while before I can do anything, I just sank everything I have in the mod fund into my suspension...so It'll be about 2.5 months.

SS Ball3r- +1 about the 00 looking like crap and I've actually been thinking about doing that.

I don't see how that's "wetback" look unless you get a fake carbon fiber hood?

I may just get it color matched, it all depends on the difference in the painting price.

Actually most shops use a glossy black with a satin clear. There's a big difference between satin and flat too. Flat just looks like a damn chalkboard that's in primer or something. Satin still has a little bit of a sheen to it and actually looks good, but only when it's completely satin or just accents in satin. The whole hood in black will just look like you bought a different hood and didn't have it painted.

Oh and by the way, have a GOOD body shop paint the satin clear. If it doesn't go on perfectly it's going to be different luster levels and look cheap as hell. And there's no sanding/buffing out imperfections with satin paint
