Trashy!

So I finally got around to detailing my car. I just bought it a few months ago and it always smelt like used car (indescribable..) I took up all the carpet in the trunk and saw things under the rear seats. So...I pulled those and BAM...trash, 100's of dead ants, granola bars etc...plus, this "under carpet" (not sure of the correct nomenclature) was soaked in who knows what...Im sure thats where this old death smell was coming from. I took it out for now, but what is it there for? Just to soak up spills or what? Im thinking its not a big deal at all to be without, but wanted yall's inputs...

Pic of what im talking about...(pic from latemodelrestoration.com)

I figured that too, I'll deal with the sound over the smell...

It is cheap enough to replace/upgrade honestly.

$500! Holy schnikes! I'd rather buy car parts with that.

Me too....Dynomat is EXPENSIVE. I REALLY need to dynomat my trunk, but I REALLY don't wanna dish out $150.

Dynomat is like the BBK of sound deadeners. Everyone knows the name, so they buy it, but there's always better options out there.

Look up Second Skin sound dampener. Absolutely the best, and probably cheaper than dynomat. Dynomat is crap compared to some of the real stuff out there.

+ 1 to the Dynamat comment. There is better stuff out there, and it's probably cheaper. And if it were me, I'd replace that crap under the seat.

Hmm...Guess I'll have to try some of that Second Skin stuff...It's about $70 cheaper to do the trunk than Dynomat and looks thicker...

i got rid of all that junk in my back seat area and in the trunk. i drive a sports car, not a luxury sedan. sooo it should be expected to be loud and have normal rattles and vibrations...not like i could really hear them over the exhaust and stuff tho.
