just buy a used one if your looking to save money, if it's got a good filter you can clean it and it's as good as new.

ehhhh I'd get a real one. One of the reasons that aftermarket CAIs are better is due to the fact that they have a smooth construction rather than a bunch of creases like the stocker. That way they don't create turbulence in the air going into the throttle body

Now my question is ... is there any harm in buying a used one???? aside from the filter thats minor I mean something that may come back to bite me down the road?

no not really.
An old tube is just as good as a new tube at holding air.

Thanks mane, nothing wrong with buying a used CAI. You might go for one that's not made of metal due to the fact that you could possibly lose power via heat-soaking since metals are good conductors. Clean the tube and hit the filter with a K&N recharge kit and you're good to go.

Right, I think the non-metallic tubes are made with polyethylene plastic or some similar compound

im building my own CAI...my friends have done the same...connect a K&N filter to it...and call it a day....so simple and cost about $15 in tubing...and that will make a fender well or ram air....plus it's really easy to paint....i'll be finishing mine later in the week hopefully

Dude, how cheap are you? why would you buy a used CAI? spend 80 dollars and get one from American Muscle.

nothing wrong with used parts. thats really all i buy because im cheap haha.
for my intake, i used a stocky tube, made it look pretty (aka, i painted it) got the MAF adapter plate and put a 9" universal cone filter on there. cheap and easy.
