Broken ball joint on A Arm please help! pics

I was turning a corner slowly the other night and i just feel something pop and my car comes to a grinding stop i take a look under the car and this is what i see.

MORE

I tried keeping the floor jack under the A arm while aligning that ball joint thinking it would maybe pop back in as i let the car back down the ground but of course im stupid and forget theres coil springs applying force downward on the A arm so it wont do sh!t.

what the ef do I do now?

At the *very* least you need to replace that balljoint.

It may be easier to just get new LCAs, though.

how do you replace that ball joint? does it have to be pressed back into the A arm??

I dont have the tools or workspace to do any new major installs so new LCA are not an option.

Would improper steering alignment cause this problem?

Balljoints are a wear item, they simply wear out over time. Judging by all that rust, it was time. The only way to fix it is to press the entire old balljoint out, and press a new one in, there's no repairing that one.

AHHHH YES, i am looking here in my Haynes manual and it is indeed the Ball Joint that is toast. and yes it says replacement: remove the lower control arm, have the old balljoint pressed out of the arm and a new balljoint pressed in by an automotive machine shop. Install the lower control arm. well shit, mines already out so i guess i just gotta have someone press a new one in! lol

you don't have to remove the a arm. if you have a shop do it they will have a tool that presses the ball joint out.

otherwise, if your gonna do it then i guess you would have to remove the a arm and have a new one pressed in

Yours isn't completely out, it's just broken, you still have to remove the housing out of the lower control arm.

To be honest installing new LCA's isn't that hard.

If you've got a floor jack 2 jack stands and a basic tool set you could do it.
