Springs and alignment?

I was getting some work done on my mustang this weekend at the local shop, and I was talking to my mechanic about lowering my stang. He got a look on his face. He proceeded to tell me that if I did that, I would not be able to get the alignment right without buying special struts and that it would horribly increase my tire wear.

Would lowering my stang 1.5in with an Eibach pro kit hurt anything? What would the ride be like? Loosey goosey, or firm/tight.

I have stock struts, shocks, and caster camber plates. I am going to buy struts/shocks soon however. Either the eibach pro kit ones, or tokico adjustable..

Here is the kit..

get a set of c/c plates as well. your ride with be alittle stiffer. and if you dont get the cc plates it will be hard for them to align it properly.

I've got my front end lowered about 2.25 inches and they can still align it with a set of off set rack bushings and c/c plates.

you can get a set of c/c plates from steeda or many other companys....i went with UPR shark billet c/c/plates....they look nice and work very well for 150.00 shipped. You will not really need aftermarket shocks and struts if you lower it 1.5 to 2.0 anything beyond that and you will need them to keep from bottoming out.

I have the shark plates as well, but wouldn't suggest anyone buying them. I'd go with Maximum Motorsports or J&M plates. The UPR sharks work OK at first, but once you get addicted to suspension, they don't have the adjustment needed to get 4-5 degrees positive caster, which is what works best in the Mustang.

you'll be fine with a 1.5" drop with the stock stuff. if you already have the cc plates then you are definitely golden.

if you don't, then it won't be any "harder" to align. just as simple as the stock plates won't have enough adjustment for camber most likely
