Engine Build!

Hey everybody,
I have been looking to do a motor swap for a while. I wanted a 5.4 but I had a 4.6 hit me in the face.

I got a 2002 4.6 short block out of a Crown Vic for $75. The guy just wanted the heads and intake so he robbed those and I got everything else.

Now it is time to build this engine. I want this engine to make 300+HP but I don't want to get outrageous. I also had a Diablo programmer fall into my lap, cheap.

To build an engine from scratch, even if I start bare block change gaskets, etc...What is the best way to get the most power for a budget but build this engine right?

Any suggestions

No need to spend the extra money on forged internals if you're not going past about 425-450 rwhp.

If you're looking at 300 rwhp get some 10:1 (or so) pistons, good heads, and good cams. That's the main parts to a good engine build, and the parts that you don't want to skimp on.

Have you thought about 4v heads? They are going to flow way better than a 2v head. Only downfall really is you have to buy more cams, valves, etc when you swap cams. A lot of people on a budget get B heads from a Lincoln Mark VIII an swap on the 96-98Cobra intake cams and the 96-98 cobra intake manifold.

yah, 2K for a forged rotating assembly is a waste if you are shooting for 300 rwhp. The set I have ae 9.8:1 if you decide you need them.
