Buying new supercharged gt few questions.
So basically tomorrow I'm going to check out this 2001 GT Premium with most of its parts replaced by aftermarket.
Supercharged - Original Owner - Mint Condition[/url] This is killing me having to post this. I purchased this car new in December 2001 as a GT Premium Package from Wayne Ford and the car has been pampered ever since. The car was garaged for the first 6years and covered the past 2 years. In 4/2006, I leased another car with plans on installing a supercharger on the mustang and keeping it forever. At the time, I had already installed an SLP loud mouth cat back exhaust, an SLP X-pipe w/ cats, BBK underdrive pulleys, cold air kit, ported and polished upper intake, a plenum spacer, and a Pro 5.0 shifter. When the car became my secondary car, I literally jacked the car up and scrubbed the undercarriage. As you can see, I am very anal about this car and you will notice when you see it. I even have a certain way of getting in and out of the car as to not wear the leather. The driver's seat leather is hardly worn and the interior is flawless. The interior is a dark charcoal. Since 4/2006, the car gets drivin approximately 500-1000miles a year, never sees rain or snow. In January of 2008, I installed smoked headlights, a mach 1 front bumper skirt, a cobra grill delete kit, eibach progressive rate lowering springs, black 2004 17x9 cobra rims with 275/40ZR17 BF Goodrich G-Force KD's ($900- for tires). The tires have about 95% of tread remaining. I also installed a Vortech V2 S-trim Supercharger with the Vortech Aftercooler. I ordered the supercharger from JMS Chip & Performance as a kit which included an SCT Flasher XCalibrator 2 with 3 dyno tunes, 60lb injectors, SCT 90mm MAF 550, SVT fuel pump, NGK spark plugs and the aftercooler ($4774-). While I had the transmission out, I also installed BBK headers and a Cobra Clutch. This car has never been to the track and never been on a dyno. Like I said this car has been pampered and is in mint condition. There is no dings, no dents, and I want to say no scratches. There isn't even a rock chip on the front bumper. There is two tiny tiny rock chips on the hood. The car is only hand washed and never taken to the car wash. I do not need to sell the car but, I just strapped myself by purchasing a waterfront home and being that my primary driver is a Jeep SRT 8 (12mpg), I would like to get a vehicle that is more fuel efficient so I don't have to drive the Jeep as much and can save some money. I know this is not the season to put this car up but figured I would give it a shot. I am asking this price because I have always been a mustang guy and I can always tell the difference between a mustang that has been cared for or beaten on. The car has just about 81,000 miles and I would put it's condition against any mustang with under 30k miles. I have the original window sticker, receipts for all parts, just about all the original parts including the original mufflers, and all receipts showing oil changes every 3000 miles from new. Don't think you are going to low ball me cause I don't need to sell the car right now. No one will be driving the car unless I get a deposit. I will take you for a ride and if you are interested enough to give a deposit, I will let you drive it. I am asking $13000-, Here is the basic list. SLP loud mouth cat back exhaust SLP X-pipe w/ cats BBK underdrive pulleys cold air kit ported and polished upper intake a plenum spacer Pro 5.0 shifter mach 1 front bumper skirt a cobra grill delete kit eibach progressive rate lowering springs black 2004 17x9 cobra rims with 275/40ZR17 BF Goodrich G-Force KD's Vortech V2 S-trim Supercharger with the Vortech Aftercooler SCT Flasher XCalibrator 2 injectors MAF 550 SVT fuel pump NGK spark plugs BBK headers Cobra Clutch He's asking 13k for it and I'm quite a novice when it comes to cars, so what do you guys think? |

13k is kinda high with 81k on it even with mods. But mods aren't cheap. This doesn't mean you couldn't find an unmolested car and mod it yourself

True but to be honest I don't have the knowledge or tools to get my self in that kind of position. Thats why I'm looking for something thats already done and 13,000 is a bit high but to be honest I'm highly considering it.

If you dont have the know how to build a car like that then it may be your best bet.
Though I did install mine without even knowing what to do.

To be honest man I'm 18 I dont have alot of driving experience I mean I consider myself decent but still, so it doesn't have to be perfect. And yes I'd love to do it myself but like I said I dont have the tools or knowledge I mean I really know close to nothing besides hp,how the engine works, different types of engines, and thats about it.

Lol im only 17 bro!
Really though, if you build it yourself your going to learn SO MUCH! I mean start small. Change the intake and exhaust. Do some small stuff to start off with. Get your hands dirty and see how you like it. Thats how I learned man. Start small and work your way up. I mean if you really dont think you can build it though you can always buy that car.

There is an advantage to buying a car that has already been modded, if it's the same stuff you would do if it was your own. A lot of us out there have sweet plans but no means to bring it all together... A fair price if all is in order would be the value of the car + half the cost of the aftermarket equipment. Don't count labor to install the stuff.
On the other hand, the MAJOR downside to this scenario is the risk. You never know what has really happened in the life of the car, and mods like this can be hell on the car if driven hard. It sounds like it is well taken care of, but I would not trust anyone's word if they are the seller- be smart. It also kinda sucks that you would'nt know a problem/band-aid if you saw it in person. Your best bet is to find someone who knows these cars and have them check it out for you. In my expierience it has ALWAYS been worth the $ to have a reputable performance shop go through the car before you buy it. Most sellers will agree to this if you are serious about getting it. There will always be something they will find that the seller is not telling you, but, if you're lucky it will only be worn brakes, aged power steering pump, bad alignment, or something else that is fixable. You want to watch out for signs the motor/heads have been taken apart, leaks in the rear axles and diff, chassis/body damage. BTW, if it has BOTH the Vortech S/C AND the BBK underdrive pullies installed together, I'd pass. This also is a lot of power to be putting through a stock rear-end. Even if it checks out OK now, plan on spending $700-$1000 in the near future to beef it up and be safe. The stock motor/trans also is not meant to handle a lot of power for long. WTF "While I had the transmission out"? I always look at the modded cars for sale first and try to find one that is done correctly and in good shape with a fair price. However, most of the time there are additional expenses that you will find that need to be considered before you get into it. A lot of people sell their hot rod after something expensive happened and they need to recoup the money, or worse, they know something expensive is about to happen.. If it is a completely unmolested stocker, you know exactly what you have and you can learn as you improve on it, if you can find the time and cash in the future.

first off , he asking 13k, which you may be able to jew him down....i really would'nt if the car is clean it is worth the 13k...i know as i built my car from stock and put an ass ton of money and time into it...and matter of fact mine got 10k less miles and nobody will touch it for 13k wheh i was trying to sell it as apparently i overpriced it...
within 1 year i put almost 13k in mods and time into it...your were getting a mint car for free.. regardless you save alot of time and headaches and save alot of money if you buy his car or try to talk him down a bit...if i could do it all over again , i would've done the same.. got any pics of this car ??? good luck and let us know how you make out..

I have to agree with a few of the posts on here. I would try to get a better deal on a GT with lesser miles and put some mods into it yourself. I bought a Saleen Mustang and now I wish I would have gotten a GT and modded it myself to learn more about cars and motors. You will feel alot better going down the road knowing you put the work in yourself and its personalized by you.

IIRC, I bought my 02 GT with 17,xxx miles on it in February for 10600. Although it doesn't have a blower, it was in MINT condition at time of purchase and was only garage kept and very well maintained.

if you dont know much about cars, do you REALLY think its a good idea to jump into this one? i mean take for example something goes wrong with the supercharger, or the aftercooler, or something else to that effect? youre going to be in a pickle because as you said you dont know anything, werent the one to install it, and you would be thrown into the deep end even before you have tried to start swimming yet.
all im saying is maybe you should buy a more stockish car and learn as it comes to you so if something happens you are well prepared for it. |

Buying any car that was that heavily modded is a bad idea!
When i was looking to buy my GT, there was a few modded options out there, everyone will tell you they took care of their car never redlined, oil changed every 3000 miles and all that BS to sell the car. Like everyone else said, your better bet is to buy as close to stock and then do the work yourself. There's nothing more rewarding than installing something yourself. Plus 13K is way too much no matter what kind of mods he has into it. I just bought mine 01 GT 61K miles, one owned, car was bone stock never modded and paid 8500 for it. |

I think the price is way too high. KBB puts the private party value at $6,860 for the base car in like-new condidtion. I don't think you should pay more than $10,000 even if everything advertised is true.
For comparison, KBB put the private party price of an '03 Cobra with 81,000 miles in excellent condition at $14,680.

Lol id so rather have a cobra.
Really though if you have 14 to spend on a mustang. Go for a cobra. It will be BONE STOCK and yet plenty fast. So you dont need to know anything to drive it. Personally i was gonna sell my 112K car with a blower and stuff for 8 and THAT was a steep price. I cant see paying double that for a 99-04.
