rear diff ?

Need to put clutch packs in my 8.8in rear diff. I hear the carbon packs make noise? Is there a difference when they grab? and is worth the extra $50 for them?

they hold a little better but tend to wear out faster.

Kinda confusing here. One guy says they wear out another guy says the stockers wear out?

nothing confusing, they are both gonna wear out, the organic ones seem to last a little longer, the carbon fiber grip a little better. there are also MANY reasons why they wear out (a car that sees the track regularly & has no line lock on the front brakes for burnouts is the #1 cause I've seen, some guys wouln't even make it through a whole season with out a line lock before the clutches go out.) all in all I change mine every spring & see wear on them (aprox 500 passes a year) even with a line lock.

not really, if you just d/d our car & mabie go to the track once or twice a year, the stock clutches may last the life of the car. just best to replace them when your in there doing gears as it is already appart.

I'd have trouble thinking the clutches make enough noise in any case that you could hear them when the car is moving.

Never heard of the carbon clutches making any more noise than the stock ones. Like casper said, for a DD that doesn't get pounded on I'd just get stock replacements.

don't need to, clutches are cheap, I mostly change them for insurance (I put 350+ passes on my car a year, some years as many as 500). when I get around to a 31 spline swap I'll be doing a detroit locker though.
