Shift Kit?!
2000 Gt Auto with 90k on it...
I'm wondering if I should put a shift kit on it and if so what brand??? It's a daily driver and I don't abuse it but of course I'd like to have fun with it. It only has full exhaust, intake, and pulleys. (no internals) So tell why this would be a bad or good idea. Suggestions... ? Transgo is the looking like the best so far |

I have the transgo shift kit and love it. I would recommend it accompanied by the SCT tuner. The shift kit alone gives nice short firm shifts. It took me around 2 hours to install, its quite easy if you can follow directions right, and have good attention to details.

is it essentially making it "tip-tronic"? and is it going to work as a tranny rebuild kit?

Negative my friend
A shift kit will not make it “tiptronic”, nor is it a rebuilt kit. The shift kit involves swapping out some springs and changing some accumulators inside the valve body. A rebuilt kit would change the bands and seals inside the actual tranny. |

alright, so purchase rebuild kit AND shift kit. Which transgo kit did you get? Any problems with it or fore-warnings?

i got this one
Trans Go Shift Kit No problems with it. if you installing yourself, just PAY ATTENTION its easy to loose a peice or skip a step As far as the rebuild kit, you will have to remove the tranny to rebuild it, and its not a easy task. Last edited by 01KnightRiderGT; April 6th, 2010 at 11:46 AM. |

Yeah, I would take the whole thing to a shop... I need a new tran crossmember and i think im going to rebuild the diff too so might as well do it all at once.
So how does yours work? just adjust shifting points? cuz i've always thought that they were all more like this one TransGo Performance AOD-HP - TransGo Stick Type Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com |
