buying kenne bell

Well, i have decided to go ahead and buy the kenne bell 2.6L for my car. I have two questions, I have seen some where on the net a picture of a guys engine, he had the kenne bell supercharger with his orginal JLT CAI...Is it possible that I can keep the JLT CAI on my car with the kenne bell or go with another CAI. Also I dont wanna push the limits on the stock block past 425hp, what is the hp rating for 9 psi? I am only buying this supercharger because when i do get my new block built i dont wanna have to upgrade to another supercharger because i am running outta boost.

Isn't a 2.6 a bit big for a stock 2v?

^ agreed with weems,
Sooo do you have a cowl hood or the cobra R hood cause i believe it requires one cause of its size.
im sure you read this but this is taken from kennes web site.
It has a wide boost range of 9-26 psi to cover any application or combination. It covers a power range of 500-950+HP and is recommended for any built forged piston and rod 4.6. Note: Stock 4.6 rods and pistons are rated at 450HP, so the BIG BORE 2.6L is not recommended for stock engines.

true, i plan on building up another block anyways, just dont see the point in buying a 6psi sc vs a 9 psi. I know about the hood clearance issues, plan on buying a cobra r hood right before i get my car painted.

If you want to be safe keep the power of a stock 2V under 400hp anythin more is questionable. The 2.6L almost certainly blow up your motor.

definitely get the 2.6l now, I wish I would have. just run the 9 psi pulley and take some timing out of it.

the inlet location is different with the 2.6 so I don't think your jlt will work, you could get it to work with the 2.1 since it's location is in a more stock location

I'd just get the 2.6L and *when* (not if) your motor blows. go big!! haha , you'll already have a great blower all you would need is the supporting mods to make a monster!

I would build the block and then get the 2.6. If you are planning on doing both in near future, don't jump the gun. Start with the block. Then add power.

And the kb is an excellent choice

I agree with this 100% The only way I'd go boost before shortblock was if it was going to be a loooong time before you could do both. Sounds like you can do both in a timely manner, so why not just build your shortblock with the blower on that, and then drop the whole assembly into your car instead of having to install the blower twice?

your really gonna like the KB...by all means get the 2.6 and just pulley it down for 9psi!! as for the JLT on a 1.7/2.1 it is very do-able...to my knowledge only moosenuk and myself have a jlt on a KB 1.7/2.1...limited has a demolet intake I think...but for sure get the 2.6!

I went with the kenne bell big tube kit with 90mm maf and switch chip. If you run stock maf it will be pegged anyway so get the big tube. Also with that setup and a 10 lb pulley which I run on 2.1. I build 11.5 psi of boost. You will also need a 75mm tb.

Were you able to fit 90mm maf to your jlt. I hate the tube from kenne bell. Ive been wanting to replace the tube itself. Can you tell me exactly your setup. maybe was even thinking about jlt ram air kit just dont know what will fit and dont want to waste money. thanx

Yes sir the KB big tube kit has nice hardware (maf & TB) but the tune itself is cheap as hell IMO. The only think i had to do to get the 90mm MAF to fit in was take a razor blade to the inside edge of the 90 degree coupler that goes into the fender and bevel it a little...that and the slightest amount of grease and just worked it in. also for a 1.7/2.1 your gonna have to take about 3 inches out of the centersection so that the tube isnt kinked
