Question

Re installing lash adjusters.

Ok so I've bleed these things with a vice but still cant get the followers (rockerarms) on with the cams in. If I rotate the cams to get them in the chain jumps the teeth on the crank sprocket throwing my timing back off. What am I doing wrong?

why is your chain jumping teeth? are you turning the engine over or just rotateing the cam?

google Otc-7928 --- problem solved

As to the post above. You time it then install the rockers/followers/whatever prefer to call them. That way youre not fighting the force of the springs trying to rotate the cam as well as not shoving valves into pistons.

The chains shouldnt be jumping either when you rotate them. Are the tensioners installed and then the tensioner guide pressed towards the chain some to where theyll apply tension? Or are you trying to rotate just the cam(s)? rather than rotating the crank which would then rotate the cam(s)

I'm rotating the cam but my tensioners have no oil pressure since i pulled the engine apart to swap blocks. So the chain has some slack in it. LOL Otc-7928 I was hoping it wouldnt come to that.

Press on the tensioner guide by hand and youll hear a slight click or 2 and then let off. That will cause the tensioner to pop out some, then the catch will hold the piston in place/itll apply pressure on the chain(s).

if you dont have the lash adjusters and followers installed you valves do not move. they would be closed.

I'm rotating the cams. Should I be rotating the crank instead?

I just rotated the crank to get each one in. Get in as many as possible per rotation. I seem to remember using flat tip screw driver, maybe?
