You will have to PM JayC. I have never done one without my line lock

It's pretty damn easy. People have been doing this for decades without line-locks. I just got one as a present and will be installing it this weekend.

1. Go through the water (I usually spin the tires a couple rotations just to get water around the whole tire)

2. Pull up a few feet in front of the waterbox and come to a stand still.

3. Put the car in second gear and bring the engine up to about 5,000rpm while holding the clutch in.

4. Drop the clutch while keeping the rpms above 5k and immediately take your left foot and place it on the brake pedal. (Don't worry, with the tires wet, it will not harm the drivetrain...it's just like peeling out in the rain) You don't have to mash the hell out of the brake pedal, but just enough pressure to keep the car from rolling forward.

5. It's very important to keep the rpms up at this point cause once the tires star to get hot. If you let the rpms drop below 4k, you probably won't have enough power to keep them spinning once they start to shed all the water and begin to heat up.

6. Once they start to smoke, hold the burnout for a few more seconds and let go of the brake pedal and roll out of the throttle as it starts to hook and pull you forward.

There you go, now you're ready to stage your car.

This process might take some practice, so I highly recommend finding a country road somewhere and doing this a few times on street tires so you can get the foot transfer and brake pedal pressure thing down. Although, you will need a bit more brake pedal pressure to keep the Slicks from pushing you forward vs street tires.

I know, it's much easier if you just hit a switch and your car stands stilll...letting you punish your tires

I'll be happy once I get mine installed. No more drifting while staging LOL

WTF you aren't JayC or F8L! Haha, jk. Thanks for the instructions! I'll definitely be "testing" this on some country roads. Nothing worse than looking like a dumbass when you're getting ready to run

Meh, I'm sure people were laughing at me when I spun through the 60' mark every run my first night out haha. It's definitely different than racing your buddy down Old Hwy 9!

No problem man...Good luck with it. It will probably take a couple tries to get the timing down, but it's pretty damn easy after doing it a few times. Line-Locks are more convenient, but aren't high on a lot of mod-lists. The lack of one shouldn't deter people from running good tires and getting some track time. They are far from being a necessity.
