I need help on new engine ideas?

Hi everyone,
I have a 98 mustang gt with 168,000 miles and I want to do something with my engine. I want to either buy a engine with low miles ( something faster then my engine) or just rebuild my engine. I'm not sure what would be best rebuild it or buys something like a 99 to 04 engine. Well If you have some good ideal or you could telll me what I should buy please let me know or if you have a engine to sell me PM me. Oh yeah I have about 3 grand to spend

Do you have something else to drive while the car is down? Given your budget if you do just pull what you have, have it bored/honed, throw some rods and pistons in with good hardware and call it a day. Maybe even a forged crank if you have enough cash but the factory one can hold a fair amount.

Dont forget to budget in misc gaskets, bolts, rings, bearings, shit like that. Thatll take up a chunk of your budget before you know it.

Thats just my opinion though. Weather youre gonna build it yourself or have someone do it for you plays a big factor as well.

Thanks for the imput ajm, I looking for the best options, I also have some one selling me a 302 engine with PI head and inwas going to rebuild that engine and then put it on my car. The mechanic that has it is trying to hoock me up and rebuild it and put it on my car for 2600 the only catch is that he wants his business logo on my car and I don't care 2600is cheap albut he keep prolonging the sittuation.
