Feel like i have a friend screwing his car up

Friend has a 99 GT 5 speed. 3:73 gears,short throw shifter, flowmaster catback, pypes xpipe, CAI.

Blew the original motor and replaced with a 2001 engine. Never reflashed the computer or anything. Car is not ideling correctly and when you give it gas stumbles up then down. Claims running lean and misfire on cylinder 5. Car has all new plugs and COP's.

He took it to a shop to have the engine put in and they put in the new motor and due to O2 sensor failures they replaced all 4 with MIL eliminators.

So my question is what do i do with it? i thought you could only run MIL elims on the rear O2's

the front o2s. He needs those. Tell him to tell the shop to take the front mil elims out and put the right o2s back in. The computer needs those to run properly. If not he will have a lot of problems

yeah you definitely can't run MIL eliminators on the front o2s. replace the front o2s and take the MIL eliminators off. that should help.

also yeah its a place i wouldnt even think of going, but its his dads friends or whatever. I just wanted to make sure im right.

^ I agree...If hes not gonna listen or believe you then let it be. Let him learn the hard way. Then maybe next time he'll listen. One way or the other it doesnt effect you so let him learn. Sounds like one of those guys that asks you for help, you give them an answer, and for whatever reason they say youre wrong or wont listen...Yet if they were so smart in the first place they wouldnt be asking for help.

Let me tell you the old engine story (you all will love this i promise)

he bought the car and after a year complained of it running bad and all this other junk (im abriging this story) so i looked at it. After evaluaton i said this thing has a blown intake manifold gasket. So me and my bro replaced the gaskets and re sealed up the intake manifold. Well we told him to change the oil immediatly and he didnt, so it ended up cooking a cylinder and blowing out a cylinder wall. So i refused to replace the engine, and now this happens. I have a 97 gt with a pi intake and cams and have always loved mustangs so it kills me to see one go to waste, thats why i try to fix it

It sounds like he'd have just as much luck taking it to the local Waffle/Huddle House and letting someone there fix it.

You don't have to have the factory o2's, but his car does need them. I only have a wideband o2 on my car.
