i REALLY beg to differ. i found my V1 head unit with mounting bracket used in great shape for 460$ shipped off the other forum that i more frequently use. i bought the cxracing intercooler/piping kit, a used lightning maf and used 39lb injectors, new focus pump, the intake assembly, and a used BPV.

total cost: 1250$ for an intercooled vortech air and fuel mods included. i still need to purchase some misc. hoses, bolts, clamps but those won't be terribly expensive. trust me its possible but i got a HELL of a deal on my head unit and you will not find them for 460$ except once a blue moon.

and the "1500$" kit is all the BLOWER pieces needed for a non intercooled vortech. air and fuel mods still need to be purchased ontop of that, and its 1500$ assuming you spend no more than like 800$ on the head unit (which is getting harder and harder since other forums are becomming aware of the DIY kit).

I thought the whole "I can build a supercharger kit for under $2k" argument was over. Everyone knows that it can be done by buying new parts. The guy that put together his vortech kit for $3k or whatever bought a bunch of stuff new, hence the more expensive kit.

haha this thread is gonna stick with me for the rest of my time registered on this forum isn't it haha?

Again, I bought a v1 t-trim, new parts, etc etc, throttle body... def NOT the budget build lol. But yes, I now know it can be done for a lot cheaper, but again, I wasn't going that route.

dcooks' got my back, haha

Well in my book you're the guy that pieced together a kit of new or reliable parts for a little bit extra cash rather than going with used stuff that could have been absolutely abused for 8k miles

Yeah threads get pushed back to the 10th or 12th page pretty quickly. And especially because that guy is new, most people probably won't remember that he was that guy.

And you're right shark, nothing wrong with buying new stuff if you have the cash. I know I would! But I don't have the cash, so I keep an eye out for good deals and try to build smart long term plans so I don't waste money

Back to the original post, even though it's old now, I wasn't trying to be a dick, I just really didn't understand. Besides it tends to put you in a bad mood when you ask a question for help and you get, "this has been posted a million times....". There's a reason I'm a newbie, I don't know what the f*ck I'm doing, that's why I asked for help, I couldn't find the answer.

Anyway, NOW that I know more about this I'm just prob gonna look at a centrifugal (don't kill my spelling) setup like a procharger or vortech. I wanted to piece a setup together instead of paying almost 4k for a kit now but didn't know all the little hoses and such that you need. Shaun03's guide is really helpful tho, what about any little things mounting brackets, hoses, and what not or does that stuff pretty much come with the things already listed???
