Tuner assistance (maxed out maf?)

I went to have my car tuned a few weeks ago and the guy told me that my maf maxed out at 5krpm and 350rwhp. wft.... it is a lightning maf in a 3" blow through application... I have a zone 5 maf extender... I know a guy local here that has a tt cobra with the SAME EXACT maf setup that i have and he mad 832rwhp.... the tuner is notorious for wanting to tune a slot style maf rather than a tonsil style like mine. The wires going to the maf have been spliced twice and have never been soldered. I had 3 of the 4 switches flipped up which should be good to over 800rwhp. Im wondering if somehow that the 2 splices with no solder is what is causing the maf to read incorrectly. The maf is in a straight section of pipe and isnt close to any bends. Can someone please give me some advise.

I use a mafia because my stock maf did the same thing. Its either that or the place on it is getting "turbulence". Whats the setup?

Just get a mafia. Thats what I'm running with the stock maf on setting 3. i'm making close to 400rwhp amd still have wiggle room.

The maf appears to be clocked correctlly. Soldering the wires isnt going to matter...as long as you have good contact.

i maxed my stock 90mm MAF out right away on the dyno. I put a "2800" on which has more symmetrical fuel points. (the points are not so spread out) works great. Im only making 473 whp also

I would redo the splicing. It needs to have 0 voltage drop. Make sure you do a big splice with solder, with good wire twisting.

I wouldn't recommend splicing on the maf wires, or o2 wires. I had issues when i made my own o2 extenders. Some do some don't, my car is just picky. But solder splice > crimp slice.

Also i had no idea there was another maf extender out there. But it sounds like your tuner knows what he is doing if he is getting cars up in the 800's. He probably just wants to take the easy way out (and make extra cash selling you a new maf).

And on turbulence side someone mentioned, your setup looks fine. Think rule of thumb is 6 inches of straight pipe on either side.

Solder it and then just datalog some things driving out on the street or track. Should be able to tell what your MAF is doing without having to go back to the tuners.
