Gear Installation
Pending the sale of my truck this weekend i am looking at getting a set of 3.73 gears and the bearing rebuild kit. I am wondering if i can install them at home and save alot of money or should i pay a shop for installation? oh and i was wondering about another alternative, what about a pypes catted x pipe with about 200 dollars worth of suspension mod vs. the gears. What do you all think is best?

None of the shops around here will allow me to watch anything. I wanted to watch them do my clutch, but they wouldn't. It was the only way my parents could get me to get it installed, I really didnt want to pay 430 bucks to get it installed, so I was going to do it, but my mom thought it was to dangerous, so she said she would pay for installation and then take me out of school to watch it get installed. Turnsout nobody would let me watch!

Gears are a great bang-for-the-buck mod. They can be done if you are about an 8 on a "Mechanically-Inclined" scale of 1-10 (10=very skilled)
To get an idea of what is involved, check here: http://www.superstallions.com/tech/d...ars/gears.html If after reading that, you want more info, let me know. I have a few other sources I used to do my install. 4 months and about 2700 miles later, my gears are meshed perfect with absolutely no whine/noise. I did my install myself, but I also spent 4 years working on the B2.
