Oil inside procharger tubing!!!

I just took the 90* elbow that goes into the intercooler off so I could replace it and when I did oil started driping out of the tubing that conects into the intercooler. Now I'm new to SC but this can't be good. The car itself ran great last summer and has been sitting up on jackstands in an un-heated garage all winter. What is this from and what should I do?

wait what kind of oil is it? if it's motor oil, then it is most likely blow by coming from the valve cover. an oil separator will solve this problem. IMHO oil separators should come with all centrifugal supercharger and turbo charger kits.

+1 if its motor oil it is coming in threw the hose that is connected to the valve cover. If it is the same oil that is in the head unit you may need a new seals. Sometimes when you drain the oil on prochargers the oil runs down the outside of the pipe twards the ic.It will look like the the oil is comming out of the tube when it is just on the outside.

Forgot about that, it's motor oil, and i don't think it's my headunit cause it was rebuilt less than 5k ago. but the kicker is I have breathers on BOTH of my valvecovers, unless u mean something else

breathers on the valve covers? so you have no lines running from your valve cover to your supercharger inlet tube?

nope.... mine are both vented into the atmosphere also... sounds like you have a seal leaking... mine is a vortech so it would be motor oil i would see, i dunno how different yalls oil is gonna look compared to motor oil but i assume it may be thinner than regular motor oil. but after it runs down inside that pipe it will seem thicker as motor oil feels.

Nope just old school breathers

but the pipe running right after the supercharger is completly dry so I don't see how it's coming from the SC because it just got rebuilt, but the guy that had it before me said there was about 5000miles on the last SC oil change. And the body of the head unit is dry no oil on it either. I mean the car has been sitting all winter but I haven't the slightest clue where the oil is coming from. I did have a powersteering leak(which was right above the tubing in question) but the oil in the piping is deffently not powersteering fluid. It's dark orange/brown. All I can say is I'm going to be really pissed if I have to pay to have the thing rebuilt.

procharger oil doesn't look too much like motor oil. and it stinks too. if i remember correctly i'm pretty sure mine was purple when i changed it last. sorry if that doesn't help, i'm just stumped if you have your valve covers venting to the atmosphere.

Well I just went out and looked at it better and there is oil(although a very small amount) in the pipe coming out of the SC, it runs down hill into the other pipe that I took off. So this keeps sounding more and more like I'm screwed

I was thinking the same thing. How can you have them vented to the atmosphere?

Well that's how I bought it so I don't really know how or what they did to install it, but I am going to call the shop up that built it and see if they can shed some light on this. I'll keep you guys posted. Honestly I thought the breathers would keep the motor more safe because the crank case psi would just be vented out and not returned to the system. So no oil would ever enter the intake, but if there's still oil in the piping(and also oil going into the intercooler) then that really doesn't help much.

well yeah that's their purpose. the only thing is with them venting like that i don't think you'll pass emissions. i know in MA you wouldn't at least, but mass is so liberal it makes me sick.

Oh I know this car wouldn't pass emissions it's already got a "off road" x-pipe but I bought the car in IL and didn't have to go through all that bull*hit

Alright I just talked to the shop and they said they wouldn't be able to tell w/o seeing it but it's probly sucking some oil through the intake or it could be the SC seals. Just told me to keep an eye on the motor and SC oil levels

if you have breathers on both of your valve covers it is literally impossible for the supercharger to suck motor oil in through the intake. it might be residue from before the guy put the breathers on. i would clean it out, and in a couple of weeks take that pipe off again to see if there is any oil residue.
