suspension vs horse power
not that i need to decide or any thing.....
(cause i have both)I like to see what you guys think...when some one takes their mustang to the strip which will be more effective? a pair shocks/struts and some control arms or enough bolt ons too make 250 to 260 hp but stock suspension....which will have a lower et....given the tires are the same lets say ET streets |

i would say suspension b/c you can have all the horsepower you want but if you cant connect the power to the pavement its pointless....

Ok rule of thumb,
If she aint spinning tires, its time for more horsepower. If shes spinning tires its time for suspension work. You can build you suspension all you want. But when you hit the point where your no longer spinning and you can launch great. Your not getting any faster....so its time for more ponies.

hes not saying building an awsome suspension setup, just some control arms and some shocks/struts i think you would get better et with the suspenion setup then with just some bolt on's

hp first, then suspension. It's always fun getting a little sideways

If sideways is your thing go drifting don't go to the drag strip. Blowing your tires off is wasted time and energy. And suspension mods are the best mods you can do. How many cars have you seen running high 13's but are traping 105+ when my ta had more suspension then power mods and ran 12.9x's at just 103. Buy a good set of adjustable shocks/struts,a body mounted sway bar, sfc's,lca's,adjustable uca's and 1.8x 60fts can be had on street tires.

My camaro is cutting low 1.6 60's and high 11's on stock suspension. Do I think my mustang could do that. Ehh not really, but I will say they will work better having suspension work.

Is that on slicks or dr's? My TA cuts 1.59's very consistantly with a best of 1.567 on dr's and n/a. Slicks are a band aid for a lacking suspension. Can you cut good times on bone stock suspension? Yes but only on slicks and how many of you drive around on slicks.

me too. So in otherwords blackbird, are you saying we should be running drs on our 7 sec maverick instead of slicks since slicks are band aids for suspension setups?

If you were asking that to me it's on BFG drag radials. Never spun once ever with them.

Slicks are a band aid for low hp cars with bad suspension setups. A 7 sec car makes about 4-5 times the hp of almost every car on this site and slicks are needed on most cars making that kind of power. And f8l the I'm pretty sure the current record for dr's is 6.9x's so if the suspension on your mav was setup better then it would have no problems hooking up on dr's. And how often do you drive your cars? I put almost 10k a year on my mustang and 10k+ on my TA and there are times it rains at random and I don't want to be caught out on slicks while drive either one of them and then end up in a ditch.

I stock suspension was great N/A with gears. It's useless will boost. I still at 40 with a auto!
I would think a full bolt on with heads and cammed car would need suspension too. Tho suspension is great a good tire suspension is important too
