Cheap track wheels..suggestions?
ok so I want to run my car a few times per year on some road courses. I plan on going with a soft compound for best traction and only want to use them while on the track.
Thus I want a set of wheels I can use for the track that are inexpensive. I am not looking for looks. I am more concerned with strength and weight of the wheel than looks. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

I've used a pair of steelies on the strip that had D/Rs on them, and I picked them up for free from a buddy...
Maybe some of those? |

Well if they are made of straight steel they aren't going to be light. Aluminum will be your best bet for a light wheel. What size tire do you plan on running? And what's your budget?

probably 275's and 17 or 18"
Price wise I'm not looking for a bargain just the lowest price. I just dont want to extra for looks. they could be brown but if they were cheaper than all the rest and can stand up to track driving then they would be fine. |

That's a tough call. I know the Enkei RPF1's are light. They sell those on tirerack if you want to check them out. They are about $250 a piece but only weigh 16 lbs in a 17x9.
Otherwise basic replica wheels are an option. They are usually in the low 20# range. Or MB wheels, I think a lot of open track guys run those.
