Next Bolt On - Whats Best?

99 Mustang GT 5 Speed for CALIFORNIA CAR.....GGRRR

Current Mods

3.73 Posi
Catback
Cold Air
MGW Shifter
Sniper Tune - No Dyno Yet - Waiting to finish all bolt ons

I live in CA so that means no long tubes, O/R Mid pipes without risk of a 2k fine if caught.....

I guess my only option is Steeda UDP or 75mm TB and Plenum.....No plans to SC.

Have been thinking about going with comp xe262ah cams..... Slip it through on the smog but thats all that would pass for sure.

What do you think?

In your situation id get a plenum/tb combo. No use in getting the pullies. Not gonna notice much of a difference with them. Especially for the amount of money spent.

Or if the cams interest you enough id say cams.

Stupid CA wont even allow those! Might pass inspection if a cop pulled me over but not smog inspection. They look for everything and the stupid CARB plate. What cracks me up is people runs cams and never get caught because all you have to do is idle below 1200rpm and most stage 1 cams dont lope there and through cats you cant even really hear the cams!

The only issue is cams are like 700 plus another 300 for a new timing set - motor has 90K on it and runs great but why put back with an old timing set.

I figured the TB and Plenum because if I do cams later the intake system would probably compliment them much better..... I am starting to consider just smacking an O/R x pipe or catted version for now and watching my ass though...

TB/Plenum made some difference in my butt dyno. I would say that the CMS stage 1 cams should pass emissions testing as they are a little more mild than some cams but I noticed huge improvement with them. The pullies have been shown to only add about 8whp at most but that's not much different than the tb/plenum combo gains. I would do cams to be honest.

Bro you're too paranoid about not running a o/r mid-pipe. 2 years for me here and no problems. Get that and a TB/Plenum combo

What do you suggest the X or H pipe? I have a flow master cat back that came on my car. It sounds really good with the factory H. I bet with no cats this bitch will be LOUD lol.

Personally, I'd get an O/R X. I like the sound of and O/R H w/ flows, but I LOVE the raspy sound it makes w/ an X. It's all preference really.

If its loud right now and your worried about doing an off road mid pipe, still do a high flow catted mid pipe. Then ispection time, swap to the stock H pipe.

Have you put any thought into suspension or tires?
