tax refund mods...
So i finally got my tax refund and i am itching to finally get some parts for my car. As it sits now, it has what i believe are(and what i was told) are eibach prokit springs, k&n cold air intake, weld in flows(i hate flowmasters), and i am pretty sure that is it.
I was originally thinking headers, but now i am not thinking they will give the best bang for my buck at this moment. I also was thinking cams, but then again, i am pretty sure i will ned a tune for those and i dont yet have a tuner. So in the below list of options, which should i go for that would probably give ,me the most performance at thsi time? a) headers b) cams c) sct excal 3 tuner d) seats( i hate the stock seats, absolutly no hold) e) combination of smaller parts f) other What do you guys think? I am looking to spend around $500(unless it is cams of course) |

well, the headers and install will probably cost you more than $500 unless you plan on installing them yourself. best bang for your buck mod in that price range is probably gears. you might end up going over your budget a little, but IMO, gears are the way to go...

I want to supercharge the car eventually. I think thats the most cost efefctive way to make power on these cars. But i will still want headers and cams with a supercharger. |

Year 1 - Cams/headers - 285 give or take at the wheels Year 2 - Blower - 425 at the wheels OR Year 1 - Blower - 380 at the wheels Year 2 - Cams/headers - 425 at the wheels Basically I'm saying in year two you're going to have 425 to the wheels either way. You might as well have 100 more hp for year one by doing the SC first

i know, but i want parts now, lol. I dont have nearly enough to do a supercharger yet. unless someone is selling a headunit for around $500, then im probably not gonna start piecing together parts untill summertime.
I would start now if i could ifnd any good deals on parts that i need though... |

Well if you keep spending your money on little crap then you're never going to have enough money for a supercharger.

gears, though, i'd recommend having installed by someone who knows what he's doing. i've logged plenty of hours turning wrenches on my cars, but that's still something i wouldn't do myself...

i think if i get the tuner now, and keep saving all summer i can have it supercharged before fall semester starts. That would be badass. Starting senior year with a supercharged mustang. Last year of college would be so much better that way.

If you’re going to get gears make, sure you don’t get such a steep gear ratio if you’re going to go FI down the road
And if you’re going to get cams, you need to decide if you’re going to get blower cams, or N/A cams, if you’re going that route. You need to have a plan, you just cant start throwing parts at it without knowing what the ultimate goal is, if not your just going to be wasting money.

i dont want gears now. I do a lot of highway crusing. And the cams i want wil be blower cams anyways. There was a thread a while ago about cams that were good fo both and there were a few that were recomended since they made decent power either n/a or fi. Cant remember which ones though, lol.

I'd say go for the tuner and the gears, you should be able to get both for close to $500 if you do the install yourself.
Just remember if you're planning on going FI in the future, you probably don't want to go as steep as 4.10s, especially with a manual. You're going to need the tuner eventually, might as well get it out of the way now. You'll need it for the gears, the FI, headers, the cam most likely, ect.. |

yeah, tuner it is. After i thought about it, it made a lot more sense to get that first so i can actually tune for each new mod and eventually FI
