Not too familiar with meth injection. Was wondering if any of you that were could give me some possible negative effects of it...if any?

Maybe im wrong but I could have sworn someone (maybe joe/trick tuners) is somewhat against meth kits?

I decided to pass for now...although I still *might* get it. The way I look at it....which may seem like a goofy way is I run it wot mabybe 2x a month. What happens if the pump or similar fails within that time, the tune is "tuned" for the meth, I "let her eat" and the pump dont work, kink in the line, list goes on, meth dont kick in....Not something I wanna deal with...

you run a risk of a lot of stuff. Pipes blower off, belts shredding, ect. I like the Idea of meth but thats just me

idk...more timing and cool intake temps. Its always there to when you get crazy boost you cant use that instead of race gas or a wastegate

Im passing on it one way or the other. Just ordered a stock pile of stuff. Front right o2 sensor been playing with me the last 2 weeks which I can understand. Same sensor it came off the lot with at 56 miles...yes 56..not 56k So I ordered 2 new o2 sensors for the front, stack racing 75mm tb, 2.87 pulley, and as soon as im done typing this im gonna get some solid motor mounts. Tomorrow ill order more shit to go along with it...

Overall ive had in mind what im going with...Just trying to get more opinions/input from people considering we all have different ideas.

Even though you're not going to order I figured I'd throw my .02 in for anyone reading along. The only drawback I see to meth injection is that it's just one more thing to fail. If you run meth and have a tune for it, it almost always bumps the timing. So like you said AJM, if you're running the "meth" tune with advanced timing and something goes wrong with the kit then you're going to be running higher intake temps with more timing... and that is not good. You'd more than likely see some detonation or something along those lines.

However, some people run meth and don't get tuned for it. The dumb part of this route is that really it doesn't help you much as far as performance. It will help a little since the intake temps will be cooler in general, and if you're at the track that helps you make better, more consistant passes. The smart thing about running meth untuned is that it's just a lot easier on your motor and it's just a little extra insurance against something bad happening. And even if your meth kit craps out on you somehow, you aren't going to completely screw your motor because it would be running just like any other car without meth.

That's really all I know about it. I think Jive just installed a water/meth kit so he might be able to give a little more insight. I don't know if there is a way to monitor that the meth kit is actually working like you can for something like your fuel pump. There may be some type of gauge that you can hook up, I've never really checked it out. I suppose you could do an Air Intake Temp gauge You could just get a baseline where they were at and then if something spiked you would know something was fubar. That would be nice to be able to monitor the operation of the meth kit so that if you were running bumped timing and it went out, you could shut the car down before something bad happened.

Lowers iats and keeps you from having to buy expensive race fuel.
Its just as safe as your fuel pumps as long as the tuner knows how to set the tune right

I guess I just don't like the fact that it's just one more thing that could fail. Like Mafia's and Boost a pumps... I'd rather just kick in a little extra money and get a better MAF or fuel setup. Not really a substitution like that for meth, except maybe higher octane gasoline
