Somethign has been weighing on my mind.

A little background. I bought use MAC chrome LT headers from a dude over on Mustangforums.com last summer for $300 shipped. A good deal needless to say. I had a buddy who is a certified GM Tech at a local dealership who wrenches on the side install them for me. I never saw him do anything, so I couldnt tell you how he did it, but he installed my brothers LTs and gears and everything was fine. He charged a great rate and is definitely trustworthy.

After he got them on, bolted in my MAC h pipe and welded in my Flowmaster 40's into the stock location, I had a terrible exhaust leak. After taking the car to my exhaust guy and having another dude listen to it, we figured out that it was coming from the header.

The mechanic who installed them took them back off, inspected them and told me that there was a cracked weld on the passenger side header. He said he welded them up and all was good.

Shortly after I am walking out to get in my car and I hear a terrible loud hissing sound. My AC was leaking out as I walked out to my car. I then drove a couple miles down to my Certified Ford Master Tech who happens to own a bunch of Mustangs. He said it was my AC leaking out.

He told me that it was going to run me like $500 bucks to fix because you have to rip into the dash to get it fixed.

I never took my car back to my buddy who installed them because I had basically un istalled and fixed them and reinstalled them for free. I think my dad kicked him like $50 for the kindheartedness.

So now that summer is approaching, I have no AC. But I am under a rock and a hard place because 1.), I feel terrible about him doing all the extra work so I dont want to bug him. That and its kinda a little late to ask him to fix it for free. He broke it, but idk if he even knew he cracked the line when he jacked the motor up. 2.) I dont want to drop $500 bucks on a new AC unit. Thats really stupid. 3.) I am super meticulous and I can sometimes hear, when I am driving up against a barrier and give it gas, the slightest of exhaust leak and its definitely coming from the weld.

I need some guidance here boys, please chime in. MAC said I would have to take the header off for them to inspect and if there really is a weld broke that they would replace it.

WTF do I do????

I'd say if you can't do the work yourself either just leave it or take it back to that guy but pay him normal rates to do the work to take it off.

OK, but what about the AC. The header doesn't worry me a whole lot because I don't think a teny tiny leak will make a difference, will it?

First off, I would get a second opinion at an a/c shop.

If it is indeed 500, I'd just suck it up and get it fixed. put it on a credit card and pay it down.

The first guy did you a favor, twice. I would just leave it at that.

But bottom line is, it needs to be fixed. just get it done and move on.

Mac headers on 4v's are famous for blowing the lower liquid ac line, it touches the header if you dont ziptie it up (happened to me) you sure this didnt happen? the line was like 40 bucks

Just installed my mac lts last weekend and took it for a drive and the passenger side header was coming in contact with the AC line. I found this out when I heard a loud hissing sound and white smoke started pouring thru my floor boards. Idk if my AC works bit it didn't burn thru the line since there was a protective sleeve covering it. Wat I did was bent up a stock h pipe gasket and put it between the AC line and the header. No more hissing and no more smoke so it's working for now.. Fingers crossed.

So u could try that til u make up ur mind in wat to do
