weld on hollowed out cats! you wont need to keep swapping your o/r with the catted x. you'll get the same sound, and unless someone looks under your car they wont notice.

I'm guessing smog means more than a visual inspection so hollowed cats would be a big FAIL.

@ OP I think it'd be easier to just buy a catted mid

yes i believe cali does the sniffer test so hollowed out cars would be an immediate red flag. I would just sell your o/r x and buy a catted one and never have to worry about swapping anymore

maybe MD is different, but if it's OBD they just hook it up to a computer and scan it for codes, then do a visual inspection underneath (optional).

Why don't you just buy or borrow the stock h midpipe?

btw why you need to smog test it? I ask because here in ca where I live you just got to do it after selling a car but I keep reading about people doing it .

I'm with F8L... I don't know about you guys but I don't think swapping stock mids is very easy. Not something I'd want to do more than a couple times at least.

I'm sure cali is 10x more strict than md

i with everybody else....just get a stocker and swap them back and forth. its not a big hassle unless you wanna just get a catted x then leave it on there like i did. makes more sense to me

I have heard that aftermarket midpipes with cats wont pass smog. If I were you I would look around different forums for a stock midpipe for sale. I have seen them for around $80-$120 on corral.net and other forums. If you were closer to me I would just let you barrow mine.
