Best X Pipe?

Just wanted to get everyone’s opinion on what the best X-Pipe is. I am thinking about getting a Bassani X-Pipe with high flow cats. However, I have read that if you get that X-Pipe it’s only compatible with shorty headers? I much rather get LT headers for the extra low end tq. If that is true then what’s another good X-Pipe that’s compatible with LT headers. Also, I am trying to get a setup where I will not have to swap out parts when going for emission testing. Basically I want to stay semi legal and pass emission testing without any problems. Thanks ahead of time.

you can always hack it up and make it work. My bassani o/r x was made for stock exhaust manifolds, but i once installed cats on it, then i later took the cats out, and when i get longtubes, i will still use the same pipe.

There is no "best" anything it's all opinion, if you like the sound of Bassani go for it, but if they say it doesn't work with longtubes I wouldn't do it if you have plans for them in the future. I'm sure there are ways to make it work, but Bassani stuff is pricey from the get-go, I would look at some cheaper pipes that can be turned shorty if you go logntubes, only one I can think of off the top of my head is the SLP which I have and I love it. It all comes down to preferance man, do a lot of research before you buy and good luck.

Oh, also about staying legal, unless IN does a visual inspection like they do here in NJ, you can run catless and not have a problem. They usually find out you are catless from the computer, so if you pop a check engine light from an o/r midpipe just get yourself some MIL eliminators and it should solve the problem.

He's right. I run BBK Longtubes, BBK O/R X Pipe, w/ Magnaflow Cats. I've always liked the Bassani Cats but I still love my exhaust regardless. I don't seem to attract unwanted attention and real car enthusiasts seem to appreciate the car as well, I have received many-o-compliments. It just really comes down to what you prefer in the note. As far as performance is concerned there isn't really to much a difference from one great brand to the next.

It really depends more on where you are located within Indiana. I'm around the Evansville area and we don't have any inspections whatsoever.

I am planning on going with this x-pipe: Magnaflow Tru-X X-Pipe (Catted, 99-04 GT and Cobra) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I know magnaflow is a decent brand and the cats will keep me legit when it comes to emissions, as where I live they do visual inspection and computer test.

I will also need to get a new cat-back exhaust system as what I have right now is just straight pipes from the cats. I do not care for the sound of the straight pipes and I think I am losing tq with them as well. This was put on the car before I got it.

Maybe I should just get a magnaflow exhaust to complete the midpipe or go with something different. I heard good things about flowmaster american thunder. Ugggh so many different brands to choose from. Need help.
I also decided to keep my stock headers and just finish the rest of the exhaust. I heard that the stock headers are just fine unless you are pushing like over 600hp. The performance you would get from getting lt headers is average 15hp from what I hear and it’s not really worth the money unless you are pushing serious numbers. As for shorty headers, I read don’t even bother with them. If you are going to change headers go lt or none at all.
