Do you experience hard 1-2 shifts with your 3650?

I know this has been an ongoing discussion, and an all out battle for me. I have tried numerous different fluids and combinations of fluid, resulting in minimal changes......... Until today.

I started off with the same problems everyone else talks about (i.e. hard shifts into second- especially when cold).

First attempt: changed to full synthetic mobil 1 tranny fluid- no difference.

Second attempt: Drained 1 quart of Mobil 1 and added a quart of Lucas full synthetic. Lucas worked so well in my rearend that I had to try it.- No difference.

Third attempt: 100% Lucas synthetic. This eased the shifts when the tranny was warm, but made cold shifting almost impossible.

Fourth attempt: 50% Lucas- 50% Mobil 1- Lost some of the gain I had made on warm tranny shifting, but was able to make cold shifts with relative ease again. I have been running on this blend for almost four months now.

I am in Autozone picking up a fuel filter. While I'm waiting, I browse around at the various fluids and additives (Hey, everybody has their own weird hobbies). I pick up a quart of B&M "Trick Shift" auto tranny fluid. It has a very flashy label- almost sparkled in my hands. I read the label- sounds like some great auto tranny fluid, but how would my 3650 like it? I figured I have fed my gear box so many different fluids that it won't really matter what I throw in it now.

While I am changing my shifter assembly, I find this to be the right time to drain and replace fluid (BTW: when changing tranny fluid, this is the way to go- remove your shifter and pour in from the top). I put in 3.2 quarts of B&M in and put everything back together. I was expecting disappointment on this one, but I was happily wrong. My 3650 is shifting better than ever- Cold and hot. I can't believe the difference this fluid has made. Even if it only lasts a short while, I am glad to finally have a tranny that I can rip second in.

Mine was bad on 1-2 when I had hanging revs, especially cold. Since I put the IAC restrictor gasket on it's been fine.

I ran that trick shift in my M5OD in my F150 and on hot days it would grind almost every gear, then i used 5w30 castrol in it with a quart of lucas and it work awsome, anyway i don't have the hard shift in my car like you are talking about however it does seem to have a delay from the first to second shift at high RPMs almost like it running out of fuel but i know i'm not making enough HP for that. Any thoughts?

Are you hitting the rev limiter?
