Auto to manual swap
I'm rebuilding a 99 gt and am needing transmission help. I'd like to swap in a 5 or 6 speed but am wondering if there is anyone with experience that can answer a few questions...
Would it be easiest to use a stock 5 speed or do aftermarket trannies work well? Is it best to try to find a donor car or junkyard for the other parts? Any major difficulties hanging the pedals and running hydraulic lines? What about computer programming? This is my first ford build and I'm sure I'll have lots more questions, thanks for any help |

go to your local track & ask around, there's always someone looking to go the other way (ie. manual to auto) hanging around that will most likely swap you, you might even get lucky & they'll do the work on both cars as well as swap.
if you have no luck going that route, yes you pretty much need a complete donor car.

just so you know, there are no hydraulic lines. theres a write up in the how to section on doing a swap and should give you a good idea
