Race Challenge Pretty Soon

So....It was my buddies birthday today and his dad sent him an envelope. When he opened it there was a note and the keys to his dads 96' M3 fell out. I am positive that once he gets it up here he is going to challenge me to a race. How will i hold up? It is a 96 with a chip... And it has around 100000 miles. Please tell me that I can still take this thing down..I know it is a nice car but I just want to beat it.. O yea.. My car is a 2001 Cobra, completely stock..28000 miles...still a baby..

show em the painful bite of the cobra!!!!!!!!!!!!

and go ahead and do the quickest mod your budget will allow, it will be worth it
and run him from a roll, not a dead stop, so the winner wont be determined by traction

and do it away from town or the city on a long ass secluded road where u can see someones oncoming headlights from far away, thats the safer way, OR JUST GO TO A LOCAL DRAGWAY

i rode in a 2004 M3 a while back, before i got my mustang. that thing was a lot faster then my car.. but then again it was an 04 and my mustang is not a cobra so you should beat him.

With the chip you will be alright. Be glad you bought that because before you did his car had more HP than you and better power distribution thanks to that big ass computer in the trunk. The only thing you would have had on your side wouls have been torque. The chip should be what decides the race. You better hope doesn't write his dad and ask him to mod it before he sends it, or you better hope his dad didn't already mod it for himself.

I raced a 96 M3 in my 2000 GT (stock at the time).... Dead even race but i edged him in the end of my 3rd gear.... With a cobra you should spank him...

OK that's my bad. I must have skipped over that it was a '96. I was going by the HP rating of the new ones. My boy Neral has a '04 M3 and that thing is fast as hell. That traction control computer is awesome, but he has no spare because of it.

well, I am happy to hear all of your remarks. I hope to god that I just destroy him and leave him speechless. He always swears that "the M3 is at least as fast as your car" "its chipped". I keep telling him that it doesnt matter but he just wont quit.
