Quick steps of cleaning the IAC.

1st of all, I would like thank ANYONE in this forum who helped and supported me in finding the solution for the problem i had in my car.

basically, the engine was not starting properly when the car was parked for more than 4 hours approximately, i had to accelerate it a little manually until the engine gets warm, then then the rpm gets to the normal value.

Luckily, I found the solution for that and did everything at home, special thanks to all of the members who provided me the answer when i posted about this problem.

Problem description:

-The engine will not start when the vehicle is parked for more than 3-4 hours. (the RPM raises for 1 second and then the engine shuts off)

-The engine could be started by accelerating it manually.

-When the engine is already warm, there was no problem in the start up at all.

Solution:

Simply, the Idle Air Controller (IAC) needed to be cleaned from inside. And here are the steps you should follow:

*Tools you need:
-8mm spanner+ socket wrench w/8mm socket
-Curb cleaner/WD40
-New IAC gasket (recommended)
-Fender covers (if you really want to avoid scratching your car)

1. the first step is to disconnect (X) wire and then loosen the two 8mm bolts which are located on upper and lower of the IAC.

2. You may need to disconnect other wires or remove some hoses that bothers you during the operation.

3. Remove the IAC from the Throttle Body, you will notice that the gasket needs to be replaced sometimes, here is how it looks:

BTW, it wasn't spoiled this much, I shredded it a little by mistake because I didn't know that its so soft.

4. Clean the holes in the IAC, also try cleaning the which is directly on the Throttle Body using the curb cleaner/WD40.

5. Now after cleaning the part properly, it is time to replace it again. Use the new gasket if the old one is ruined.

6. Make sure all the plugs, wires, and hoses are completely back to normal and on their original places before you end up your work.

7. Start it up, and keep it running for couple of minutes and you are done.

Notice: make sure all the work will be done when the engine is not warm.

Well, I made this at home and it worked 100%, thanks again for anyone who supported me to solve this problem, I hope you like this topic guys .

Nice writeup for sure! Can you do a rundown of the benefits of cleaning it? Like what issues you were having with your car? Don't need a novel, just cliffnotes.

Thank you all!

@dcook_14, thanks man, talking about the benefits, as I mentioned in the beginning of the topic, I can now easily start up the engine without having any (RPM falling down) issues, it starts immediately without the need of accelerating it manually. Also the car is breathing better than before, especially when shifting from P to drive, the rpm doesn't jump.

If the IAC cleanse does not fix your idling problems it's time to check and clean the MAF. Even easier to to do than the IAC.

I thought it was my IAC being dirty, but turns out of MAF was dirty which fucked up my gas ratio thus causing RPMs to sway and my car to vibrate.

Good luck.
