MGW finally installed

So it finally got up to 50+ degrees up here today so I decided to put in my MGW shift. It was pretty straight forward. The directions were very clear. Took me about an hour. (I have no mechanic abilities what-so-ever)

I love this damn thing! I always heard people talk about the difference between stock shifters and aftermarket being night and day, but holy hell is this thing different. The shift points are so short. You really can't miss second or third. With a little pressure the damn thing practically shifts for you. I highly recommend this shifter to everyone. MGW FTW!

Good deal, NBK. Someone said the aftermarket shifters add interior noise. Did yours? Cause it sounds like a good mod.

You know.. I've been debating on my next mod, and from reading lately, my next move should be my shifter. The wife is definitely going to kick my ass for this unannounced purchase, but I have definitely decided to purchase the Steeda Triax Shifter for my ride. Thumbs up on the aftermarket shifter... You should be seeing a post about mine in the next 2 weeks!

this reminds me of when I put in a hurst short throw shifter on my 86 5.0 back home, i didn't bolt down the rubber boot and brackett cuz I decided to use the heat from the tranny as my heater, lol, cuz the actual heater went out, it worked good too once the tranny got hott

Nope. As matter of fact the interior is quieter now. I remembered reading that on here too, so that was one of the first things I listened for. If you follow theset and do as it says with the silicon sealant instead of a gasket it's super quiet. I was quite surprised.

I love the fact that the end of the handle can be put toward ot away from you. I put mine further away, because I'm 6'3" and the other shifter was right at my knee in first and second. MGW is definitly the most adjustable shifter I can think of.

Well I just went for a ride at like 3:30am to get a good listen while it's quiet out and I can hear the drive train noise you are talking about. It's not bad at all though. With my radio up like 1/8 of the way up, I couldn't hear it at all. It doesn't do it constantly. Seems to do it most at higher RPMs.

I just put a triax on tuesday afternoon, all in all it was an easy install, and I too have no mechanical abilities. I really didn't notice any increase in the drivetrain noise at all. What an awesome shifter though, I'll never have to worry about feeling around for third gear again, it just falls right in. FYI, it may just be because it has been so warm out lately, but even in the morning that 1-2 grind wasn't nearly as noticeable with the new shifter.

Yeah it's pretty stiff now, but even like this it's still a hell of a step up.
