CF or Fiberglass Hood?

Really thinking about a heat extractor hood, just wondering if CF is worth the extra money.. what's the weight difference, fit, quality?

Each to their own but in my opinion no. Id rather save a couple $100 and shed weight another way....thats just me though.

Both will need hood-pins and the fit of each will mainly depend on how much you spend. As far as weight goes, the difference between CF and FG is too little for me to care. To me the main difference is aesthetic. I love the idea of getting a CF hood and painting it, but leaving a stripe taped off so you can see a little fiber action going on...

There was a 10lb diffrence between my fg 2.5" cobra r and my vis cf 4" cobra r. If your really shooting to drop weight do suspension or a rear seat delete kit. I love my cf hood but if I didn't find it for what I did($400 used) I wouldn't have bought it.

Cf is always good, it's a race inspired look IMO.
You're into racing so why not if you're already looking to do a hood swap.

i'd paint the whole hood except for the area behind the heat extractor, leave that CF.

Thanks guys.. I'm not 'trying to' drop weight, but I figured if there was a good difference it would be worth it.. and quality too.. Understanding I'll need hood pins..

Your VIS hood is not carbon fiber. It is a fiberglass hood with one layer of carbon fiber laid on top for looks. A true carbon fiber hood is going to save you a decent bit of weight.

I don't see where it would be worth it unless you were trying to shed every pound possible and had already lightened basically everything else. Plus if you're looking for a quality hood, you aren't going to find a CF hood (new OR used) for very cheap, whereas used fiberglass hoods are floating around all the time. Especially if you live in or close to a big city. I found several in Iowa... and it's IOWA! If I were you I'd just hit craigslist until you found a FG hood that you wanted.
