MSD IGNITION


Has anybody used an MSD ignition system and if so was there a difference?

Was the install difficult??

actually, those ignition systems are used more on distributor applications, but if you use it, i believe you'll have to convert to coil packs. Not sure though.

I was actually wondering this myself. There's an ad in the April edeition of MM&FF for something called the Blaster coil-on-plug for the 99-04 SOHC 4.6s. It says they are a direct replacement. Anyone ever heard of this or have any experience?

i did some reading my self and think that they would be a good adition to my project im thinking that they are 40,000 or 60,000 volt plug on coils direct replacment parts

MSD does make ignitions for these cars now. One of them is called a DS-4 but you need 2 of them because 1 will only run 4 coils. you had to hack apart the wiring in the past but they just came out with a harnes to connect 2 of these ignitions to the car. They also make a newer igniton where you only need one of them, but doesnt have all the features of dis4.

there coil on plugs replacements are just that, they replace your stock ones and have a lot more volatage running through them to keep from blowing out spark on nitrous and supercharged applications. on a n/a motor they arent needed. the new ds-4 looks very promising
