Damage Insight

Hey all, I wasnt getting any luck over in the clubhouse so I thought I would throw this over here and see if yall could help me out on this. Reps for insight

I am looking at a V8 swap and am wondering if this is worth messing with? I had originally planned on adding TF upper end kit when I swapped it over anyway but I dont know what else will be on this end that would not be useable anymore.

Im guessing the radiator is gone, the power steering pump is gone, needs a new timing cover, the harness may be jacked up if I need the part attached to the fuse box, the reservoir may be in decent condition but odds are its toast, will need new belt, hard to tell if the brake booster is intact or not. Thats the brunt of what I can see. If anyone who owns a GT can chime in and let me know if there is anything else in that section I may be missing ill greatly appreciate it n give reps.

They want $2000 I can make some but I dont think I will be able to make much back out of parting what is left. The only other offer I have that is anywhere close is a 95 that is in good running condition but they want $2600 for it. Mustangs are expensive in this part of Texas

sorry bro, that car is junk for your needs. a v-6 donor car needs to be hit in the drivers side door area to be a good canidate. you'll need everything under the hood but the hood prop rod & core support so it can't be hit in the front, & you'll need the computer & fuel lines so it can't be hit on the pass. side door area. you'll also need the fuel tank & accs so it cant be hit in the rear.
for the most part, you'll need every thing off the donor except the body shell & interior.

Thanks for the help. What about the 95 GT? The one I have seen is running and no damage. I was originally thinking about this because I can do all the work myself as I have had the most experience working on pushrod motors.

Man looks like a lot of work.... Ummmmm....... If you do get it put in your v-6 then you would still not have limited slip rear unless you swap it which idk if thats hard or possible? If you could make it work it might now be too bad a deal b/c you would could use the motor for your car and sell what you can off the car then resell it or scrap the body for bout $250-$350. But i think it would be a better idea to just buy a GT and keep the V-6 as a dd. But good luck on whatev you decide.

if the emmision laws in your state will alow it, then its a possibility. you'll still need a pretty much 100% complete, unmolested donor though.
have you talked to the guys in the v-6 section? some of them put down some pretty impressive numbers with v-6's & with the time, effort & money the v-8 swap will cost you to do it right, you can buy a ton of v-6 parts & might be faster in the end.

problem with the mk8 swap is that you just bolt it into a GT, not so with a v-6, you'll still need a GT donor car.

Ya I spend a lot of time over there reading through posts. My biggest problem is that I think even if I do spend the money to make my 6er fast im still going to have that nagging thought in the back of my mind that its still just a 6er.

My biggest problem is that I live in the middle of nowhere so there isnt a lot of places I can go to get help on "performance" items. I think the closest tuner is on the north side of dallas which is 4 - 6 hours away.

You will. Just like the gt-cobra mindset. You need to get what you want, go with your gut. If you want a gt, get a gt. OR get a v6 shell and throw a 4.6 in it.

Its been done, joint 3.8 mustangs, theres a guy named Badazztang he did this he's willing to help anyone he even listed his email address. But for that much is not worth it as said theres a lot more work involved, I suggest to save a couple of thousands then sell you v6 and buy a v8.

computer, cluster, rear end, exhaust, wiring harness, tranny, think about the cost as well, but talk to badazztang.

Lol I was on the same situation what I did was save money then bought the GT and still have the V6 but I trying to sell, after noticing that extra power I wanted to get rid of the v6 as soon as possible, if you really like you v6 then you're not ready for a gt wait that's what I did
