Guys w/ Vortechs and Intercooler... question
Hey guys. I am in the middle of my install, trying to figure out the best way to route the piping into my fender well (in regards to both Intake and piping to the intercooler). Do you guys have any pictures of how you have it done? I am trying crazy things right now to make it work. Just wondering what others have done. Thank you so much.
Matt

Clock the blower to around a 45* angle or so and run the pipe straight down behind the fan to get it to the ic. To get it back up through the fender well different people have done different things. I wanted as few bends as possible so I just took an air hammer/air chisel and cut straight down from the factory hole until I was pretty close to the rail, then cut across. Made a straight shot from the ic to the tb, other than the 90* bend needed to get to the tb.

Thats the tricky part imo. I had to cut the fenderwell to make the hole bigger. But I took fuel hose, cut it and half and put it around where I cut so it didnt look tacky. Heres an engine bay pic kind of give you an idea:
![]() ![]() Hope that helps, I can probally get some better pics tomorrow. To dark out

I know thats sick. I want to do that idk where to get it though.
When i do a powerpipe, Ill definatley have to do some adjusting on the IC piping, Im leaning towards that way

^ summit has it for fairly cheap. If you cant find it a piece of large diameter -an stainless fuel line with the little pretty ring to cover the frayed ends will work just as well.
Edit: Ive never been able to find it on summits website by just looking around and such, must not be looking in the right area but you can find it in the book and get the part number pretty easily. Last edited by ajm; May 18th, 2010 at 12:19 AM. |

Lol thats why I love these forums. I post something, like 20 minutes later I have 10 replies.
Yea the intercooler piping gave me the hardest time. I had to cut some piping to make it fit right. Post pics tomorrow, and we can help you out more. I should be able to get some pics of how I have mine setup tomorrow

I mean my stuff is ON TOP of eachother... is that OK?

Very nice man. What kind of MAF do you have?
My intake an IC piping are on top one another so dont worry. Just make sure you crank everything down. Dont want stuff blowing apart.

Stock lol, w/ a mafia extender. I am just doing this temporarily until I can buy a blow-through MAF and new blow off valve.

Ohhh okay I got ya. You may want atleast a 90mm Lightning MAF...Only $80 on Buy Ford Racing.
When you chance to blow through MAF, make sure you route ur IAC after the MAF, dont make the same mistake I made lol. Could NEVER idle right

If you bought the sensor there is 2 wires that come out of it. VMP Tuning - Buy Ford SCT & GM Custom Handheld Flash Tuners Performance Economy Towing: 05+ Slot Style MAF connector pigtail solder on that link has a diagram of your MAF wiring. You just cut off the two IAT wires and hook them up to your IAT sensor.
