Guys w/ Vortechs and Intercooler... question

Hey guys. I am in the middle of my install, trying to figure out the best way to route the piping into my fender well (in regards to both Intake and piping to the intercooler). Do you guys have any pictures of how you have it done? I am trying crazy things right now to make it work. Just wondering what others have done. Thank you so much.

Matt

Clock the blower to around a 45* angle or so and run the pipe straight down behind the fan to get it to the ic. To get it back up through the fender well different people have done different things. I wanted as few bends as possible so I just took an air hammer/air chisel and cut straight down from the factory hole until I was pretty close to the rail, then cut across. Made a straight shot from the ic to the tb, other than the 90* bend needed to get to the tb.

Thats the tricky part imo. I had to cut the fenderwell to make the hole bigger. But I took fuel hose, cut it and half and put it around where I cut so it didnt look tacky. Heres an engine bay pic kind of give you an idea:

Hope that helps, I can probally get some better pics tomorrow. To dark out

^ summit has it for fairly cheap. If you cant find it a piece of large diameter -an stainless fuel line with the little pretty ring to cover the frayed ends will work just as well.

Edit: Ive never been able to find it on summits website by just looking around and such, must not be looking in the right area but you can find it in the book and get the part number pretty easily.

Will do. Here is whats done so far:

-Installed 42lb injectors
-New Plugs
-Drain Oil
-Tap Pan
-Installed vortech mounting bracket
-Mounted Head Unit
-Removed Bumper Support/Fabricated for Intercooler
-Installed Intercooler
-Installed All Piping, Including Intake (MAF is hooked up and read to go)

To Do Tomorrow:

-Finish hooking up Blowoff valve
-Modify front bumper to fit w/ intercooler piping (and hopefully be able to keep fog lights)
-Fill Car With Oil (bold so I dont forget lol)
-Replace Fuel Pump
-Call Tripple A and get Towed to shop to be tuned

Oh and before I forget... how tight is it in your fender well w/ ur filter and the piping that goes to the cooler? I mean my stuff is ON TOP of eachother... is that OK?

Very nice man. What kind of MAF do you have?

My intake an IC piping are on top one another so dont worry. Just make sure you crank everything down. Dont want stuff blowing apart.

Stock lol, w/ a mafia extender. I am just doing this temporarily until I can buy a blow-through MAF and new blow off valve.

Ohhh okay I got ya. You may want atleast a 90mm Lightning MAF...Only $80 on Buy Ford Racing.

When you chance to blow through MAF, make sure you route ur IAC after the MAF, dont make the same mistake I made lol. Could NEVER idle right

If you bought the sensor there is 2 wires that come out of it. VMP Tuning - Buy Ford SCT & GM Custom Handheld Flash Tuners Performance Economy Towing: 05+ Slot Style MAF connector pigtail solder on that link has a diagram of your MAF wiring. You just cut off the two IAT wires and hook them up to your IAT sensor.
