Steering Play / Leaking Rack Seals
I have done some searching in regards to how to replace steering rack and fixes for steering play. I have heard many different things. For
2002 Mustang GT : Body of car has around 104K on it just so you all know. I have long tube headers and I know that my steering shaft rubs on the long tubes a bit to ( sucks ) not sure how to fix that. Here is what is up. I had the car up and it looks like there is some condensation or leakage at eaither side of the steering rack boots. A little leakage by the high pressure line going into the rack. If I grab the front tires and turn them back and forth it seems that I can see the tires and shafts moving about an inch or two either way before it catches and wants to move the steering shaft that goes to steering wheel. Do you think the steering rack is just plain worn out and I should replace it? My main thing is the steering play right now. I don't want to replace the rack if the steering play wont be fixed. If it is the rack: How hard it it to change? Dose a new rack come with new tire rods and everything? Suggestions / Help ?
