Check your fuel shut off switch. Sounds like a vac leak or not enough fuel. Drop the tank and make sure there are no kinks in the line.

Don't call me crazy...

An old mechanic showed me how to check for vacuum leaks and I have always used it.

Take a can of starting fluid or ether and spray it all around your engine while it is running. if the car starts to rev up, you found your leak.

wear some protective gear when you do this in case something happens.

I found the vacuum leaks on my 98 F-150 this way as well as some other people's cars.

I have an F-150 which I drove the balls out of for seven years. Now I have a mustang that I drive the balls out of also.

when you were swapping MAFs,,,were you changing around the sensors, and housings? Maybe the '04 ended up with the 90mm housing and stock maf.

unless I read it wrong.
