Car will not run after Vortech removal

OK...I am about to my wits end....

The vortech kit was removed from a 2004 and installed on a 2003. The deal with the 04 was that he did not have the stock parts to put back on, so we put the stock parts off of the 03 on it. Here is a list of the stock parts....throttle body, injectors, MAF, fuel pump and inlet ducting. The only issue that was found was that the 04 had a 90mm lightning MAF on it so when it was put back to stock we had to splice the 2 wires for the built in IAT sensor back on the MAF plug. At first I just used crimps and I thought that maybe that was the issue with the bad running. Well, tonight I soldered the wires instead and it still does not run right. The car starts and idles for a little while then dies. While it is running, if you try to give it throttle it will sputter and hesitate and then die. I am out of ideas, please help...

Did you reconnect the IAC? That is what my car did when I had my IAC in the wrong spot. Take a picture of the engine bay and maybe we can help more. Also, make sure the car has a tune for the Lightning MAF and is tuned for the change in injector size etc.

Yes, the car has a new tune in it from an SCT SF3 now. The weird thing is that the 04 was bought with the Vortech on it already. There is no chip connected to the computer and according to Vortech support that is what they do for those kits. There is also no tuner with the car so I have no idea how the car was running right in the first place, unless tthe previous owner used a tuner on the car but did not leave it with the car and did not put it back to stock. I thought at first that the computer may have to be reflashed to stock by Ford but when I installed a tune from my SF3 it did not help at all....That is 1 unlock down the tubes. The 04 is not my car. I bought the kit from this guy for $1100. It came with a BBK 75mm TB, Vortech kit, 42lb injectors, 90mm lightning MAF, AFM powerpipe and a SVT Focus pump and installed it on my 03.

The IAC for 03 and 04 are built into the stock MAF. The lightning MAF and the bigger injectors are now on my 03. It is tuned with an SCT Livewire and runs just fine. It is the 04 that we put back to stock and now does not run right...

not the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor, the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve.

lol...sorry read that wrong. The IAC is plugged in. It is the stock one that came off of my 03. We switched throttle bodys also. What do you mean by you had your IAC in the wrong spot? It is connected to the TB and can only go on one way.

I have not seen any vacuum lines unplugged. No codes. Did not check the TPS voltage, I figured it was OK since it was working just fine on my car. Do you know what it is suppose to read on these cars? I know the Fox bodies like to be set to around .95 I believe?

The 04 has an 03 maf, injectors and throttle body only. Should these parts exchange for stock on each car? The tune is just a built in tune on the SF3 for a stock car. Wouldn't an 04 have pretty much the same stock parts as an 03?

I will look at the plenum. I don't know why it would be unplugged though, I have not removed the plenum at all. Just the throttle body.

yes and yes. So that would bring you back to a vacuum leak possibly? EGR Valve? IAC Valve? all good?

Mafs hooked up right? Did you hook the IAT back up to the stock MAF?

You tuned it in that tuner back to stock injectors?

What about spark plugs? cops?

I will check everything again....

Yes, I had to splice the the two end (gray) wires back into the harness for the MAF plug.

yep, stock injectors, stock maf. Unless for some reason the car is not taking the tune. It says on the tuner that it downloaded fine into the car, so I cant see that being the issue.

Never pulled the plugs or COPS. The car should still at least run if the plugs are still gapped tighter than stock dont you think?
