sonuvagun, that passenger manifold bolt!
haha!
i knew it would be a pain, but i just called it quits at midnight after trying for an hour to get her to budge. guess i'll try again in the morning. just bought an air compressor, impact gun, some new shiny tools, and plenty of PB blast, and got the other 3 off in 10 seconds, except the freakin pass side bottom bolt! this is to get my Xpipe on, by the way. you guys aren't kidding, it's a bitch! ![]() oh well, i can't do much else but PB blast and give her another go tomorrow. any tips besides what's been said before (not taking a torch to the thing, too close to the motor for comfort!) thanks fellas>

I never had a problem with the manifold bolts and all I have are sockets and extensions, no swivels.

I had to sort through 2 or 3 different sockets to get one that was the right "length" to fit in there nicely with a swivel.

Socket and my trusty 12" matco 1/2" drive wratchet did the trick for me. You could cut the bolt head off and use your fancy new air chissel to push the stud out of the manifold then go buy a new stud ? Just a last resort sugestion

Yeah thanks guys. Have the right sockets, even impact sockets, making a solid connection on there with an extension, it was PB'd to high hell, it just would not F'ing budge! Sucks!
All the others came off no problem, it's just this lower pass-side one that's being a bastard. Worst part is, had to put all 3 back on so I could drive to work this morning, ugggh! Don't have an air chisel, that'd be nice though! haha Alright thanks again guys, should be able to get it off today though, lot of time was spent setting up air comp yesterday and re-tightening/checking my catback install from last week. have you tried using a breaker bar on it with the extensions? sometimes the impact wont work because of the lack of torque being delivered cuzz it is lost trying to turn all the extensions n such. if you can take some of that pb blaster n if you can reach it with somthing solid, hit bolt with a hammer. once or twice will do n then use breaker bar to loosen it up. thats what i had to do. may it will work for you.

breaker bar with a pipe aught to do it. you can apply more torque with a breaker bar and a pipe than you can with an impact wrench. simple high school rotational physics here.

just got it on, SHWEEEEEETTTTT!
SO LOUD, so awesome! everything went on and is tight and not throwing any codes/service lights (yet! lol) took forever, more news on that later, but it's on there 100% perfect. but for now I need sleeeeeep might go in to work late tomorrow. but know this... it is on, i did it myself (with one DEDICATED best friend) and I feel great about it! (though I probably spent more on pointless tools and air compressors than it woulda been to install, none of which were technically necessary, but was gonna buy them anyways....) MAC offroad Xpipe + Mac catback = loud, rude exhaust ala Steve McQueen circa 1968 in Bullit! anyone who thinks that rasp is a bad thing, I say, Nay! breaker bar probably helped, but it did not come loose from that alone. the extension on the bar was twisting, the socket started twisting, but the bolt/nut wouldn't budge.
more PB blaster, a couple more rounds of letting it soak for a few minutes followed up by the air impact wrench eventually got it loose. that was easy in comparison to getting that pass-side front o2 sensor back on. that took a while. finaly got it with a coat-hanger and two sets of hands. this was so much more frustrating than I had imagined, not difficult, it's all technically easy to do, it's just that you're at really bad angles for everything on your back underneath the car. thanks for the help here, I'll post some clips when I get a chance this weekend (still gotta straighten the tips a little!) i am gonna try and capture the sound of the car, ive only seen 2 or 3 youtube videos that actually do an O/R xpipe/catback setup justice, and none of the mac so i will see what I can do. problem is it's too loud for most cellphone/camera mics, just overloads it and sound ends up distorting/breaking up. later!
