NEED opinions on this race i might have
ok, so once a week i go to this car meet, all types of cars, and this guy in an integra with a "fully built 1.8L" motor, bored out and apparantly has anything and everything that can be put into that motor EXCEPT nitrous or turbo/supercharger. and the guy called me out saying he can take me in a race regardless of if i spray or not. He wants a 40 roll and wants to put 600$ in cash on it.
my car has a 100 shot but i might be tempted to run 150 just for this occasion, i have full exhaust minus headers, full intake. tune, 3.73 gears. and suspension work so i wouldnt spin at all from a 40 roll. Am i missing something or is this guy just a stupid ricer ? |

Actually, he could be putting 500 down depending on the size of the wing and how many go fast stickers he has on his car. Be careful!

It's difficult in it self to reach 500 rwhp in our motors NA and we have 4 extra cylinders, there's no way this dude is puttin' 500 to the wheels without some help. Have you seen under his hood to verify he doesn't have a turbo or a hidden nitrous setup?

I have no idea what kind of hp gain you can expect from bolt-ons/motor work in the ricer world, but what you really should be thinking about is power/weight ratio and traction. Also, I assume this grudge match is going to be done at your local strip, right? We don't need any more greasy spots on our highways.

Dude i know what kind of people your dealing with. Trust me theres something going on in there...most likely nitrous.
Cars like that dont put down more then 250fwhp or so N/A. You need to ask around and figure him out. Its the name of the game

yea yea yea, itl be in a "safe" enviornment with no possible harm to any bystanders.
And UPDATE, a friend of mine that knows the kid says he was bluffing and he really only puts out 350 to the tire. which is still veryyyyyyyyy steep if u ask me. And yea, the power to weight was my concern, and being it is from a 40 roll he would spin since he is so light. and i wouldnt spin. and yea i looked under the hood and theres no turbo and no nitrous lines to be seen, and i looked in the trunk and no bottle, so no signs of nitrous in sight. |

thats weird 350 fwhp still seems like way to much for a built 1.8 without nitrous/turbo

i know, if for us with heads and cams 350 is a GOOD number than how would he do it, in my opinion he cant, bt then why in the world would he call me out and put 600 on it.

yeah a 40mp roll at the strip.. wont' happen.. and hate to say it but from a roll we are at a disadvantage.. if he's only talking 1/4 you should be ok, def from a dig... at some point I think the teg will pull away (top end)..
but if you do it legit, on a strip and he's not spraying or FI I don't see how you loose, unless you suck at driving.. I know a bunch of guys with fast integras that 'keep up with GTs'.. but not with you spraying.. I can point you to another forum with a few smart guys and tegs if you wanna talk to them.. and see what's really possible.. I know a neon running high 12s.. (w/ turbo) ..found an interesting thread..http://hondaswap.com/hybrid-eg-ek-dc...ls-vtec-16356/

Just to give you an idea, a car putting down 350 whp that weighs around 2600 lbs is potentially a low 11 sec car. I still call BS on the NA 1.8 puttin 350 though. |

Go out and spank him. You should race for titles cause if you do get beat you shouldnt be driving a mustang.
There is no way in hell he will even be close to you after 7 or 8 seconds.
