I don't know if this was answered yet, but here's what I found. If you pull the e-brake one notch, the drl will turn off. No mod needed. The brake indicator will turn on but your brake isn't engaged. Still in compliance with the law, and no ticket. In the US, it is illegal to disable any lights. Third brake light, drl, etc.

Laws requiring headlights to be on during the day are misguided. Yes, it lowered motorcycle accidents because the bikes stood out and were more noticable. It did the same for cars when only a few cars had them. But in a sea of headlights those cars just blend in and the motorcycle head light becomes invisible.

As a biker I wish everyone would disable them. I know a couple of guys that have T-boned cars that pulled out in front of them. I've had to do an emergency lane change to keep from hitting a woman. She said she didn't see me even with the head light on.
