New Mustang Owner

I just got this mustang around november of last year. Ive always been a camaro guy but my fiance wanted a mustang and in general i just wanted a muscle car. Well i ended up getting a 2002 mustang gt. Its got the usuall bolt ons that everybody has, cold air intake and exhaust. Well Ive been thinking about making it a lil bit faster and get about a $1000 to invest. so i figured who better to tell me how than a bunch of modded mustang owners. Also about what does a car like mine run. its an auto.

So i was looking and I was wondering what size cam i should get. as in duration and lift. im just looking for a decent cam with a good lope. basically the biggest i can get without worring about vacuum and valve spring work.

well just to let you know mr ex chevy guy, us modular mustang guys have overhead cams so if you have a 2V you have 2 cams lol. Ok enough messing with ya, i would recommend the VT stage 1 n/a cams. You will not need any work for those and they have a very nice lope to them

ohhhhh gotcha. yea i dont know much about mustangs. just what my friends with mustangs have said and they are all fox body owners. except for one he had a 03 cobra w/ a kenne bell s/c running about 22 lbs of boost. my basic goal is to be able to be fairly quick and run with the LT1's and LS1's. Ive always liked mustangs but just fell in the camaro crowd. I read White99Stang's post on what to do to your car, which btw was very good. but anyway. thanks

youve already got the lt1's beat (not very impressive) i would say go with a 4.11 or 3.73 rear gear setup for your mod then some cam work (not sure but would the gears put us sohc's in ls1 range?)
