HELP the new problem: mustang wont start.

Hey guys, finally got the timing issue figured out, on to the newest problem. the crank will turn forever so im assuming its timed correctly, but now when we start the car it turns over forever but never fires. It seems maybe were not getting any spark? Keep in mind we pulled the engine so could there be a connector that if unplugged could keep it from starting? Or anyone got any other suggestions? I checked the gas purge on the rail, and fuel is present, so i dont think any air or anything is in the lines. We did put in new injectors also but im pretty sure they are in correctly. ANY suggestions are appreciated!

Again... we turn the key and it cranks forever but never starts

just happened to me with my motor swap. check the entire wire harness, the CPS may not be plugged in, (crankshaft position sensor) or something else. But check your interior for unplugged wires as well if you did anything in there.

If that is all squared away then try this: Re load your stock tune for your car, then load the modified tune if you have one, and fire it up. That was the problem with mine, I have no idea why but that was it haha. And if it ends up not starting again, then re load it again. I had to do that too.

Also....smell your oil dip stick, prolly smells like gas. Change your oil once you get this figured out and it starts multiple times to make sure the problem is cured.

It smells like gas because you were turning it over and it was spraying fuel into the cylinders with no fire, so it seeps through the rings and into the block.

hope this helps

Well i havent got it tuned yet, we just wanted to get it running for like two seconds before we trailered it up to tune it, so reloading the programs wont do anything correct?
Would the oil prevent it from starting?

oil wont make a difference. Try reloading the tune you had in it and see if that helps. But check your ENTIRE wire harness first, around the steering column and everything and in the engine bay. Otherwise just load it up and take it to the shop and tune it there.

What have you got done to it?

What do you mean reloading the tune i had in it? It was totally stock to begin with, should it have a tune? Please go into more detail if you can. I really appreciate it!

We took out engine, and put in all new gaskets, ported heads, and installed a 70mm turbo and now everythings buttoned up and its not starting. THe CPS is plugged in, same with the MAF. Only thing that i can think may not be connected is the vaccum lines maybe. Would that make a difference? I dont want to continue with the building of the turbo kit and all that until were sure it will run.

Is there a way to know if the CPS is in correctly? I mean we just pushed it into the opening and screwed it in, then connected the clip for it.... anything else or any way to test?

hmmm, if you've never had it tuned before with an aftermarket tuner then thats ruled out. You're problem lies in something electrical..... these problems suck so bad. haha

O2 sensors plugged in?

Question to throw out there to anyone.....

Will a car that is this modified (turbo etc...) even start without some sort of computer base tune?
