o it matters...haha... get 4.10! they r the best for quick acceleration and u will really notice it... but if u worry about gas mileage then id go with the 3.75

you mean 3.73 :wink

the gas difference is pretty much negligible. If you have a stick and aren't very good at driving it you will want 3.73's since the 4.10's first will be very very short, but if you have an auto no question get 4.10's

On a 8.8 2.73 rear end. I'm not sure about a newer V6 (they have 7.5, right?) so you may want to plug your rear end gear into the equation to find out what the RPMs would be for sure.

EDIT: It also depends on your transmission, duh. I know Jason is right about 2.73 rear end behind a T5. Double check with someone who knows how it actually works out for you.

Hey all i also drive on the highway, but im really into the acceleration side of speed rather than top speed.

I understand that 3.73 have more speed where as 4.10 are known for its quick accelration?

Is there any chance of getting both charecteristics? I heard 3.55 Gears is a compromise?

Somebody please clarify. Oh and i drive on the highway 2wice a week which is a stretch of 85 Km's.

Cheers.

3.73 or 4.10 gears

There is another option that is a good all-around compromize - a 3.90 gear. Pro-5.0 makes both gears and shifters. The 3.90 gears they make are new to the 8.8 rear end and fill the void between the 3.73 and 4.10 gears. Back in the days of the early muscle cars (mid 60s), the 3.9x gears were a factory option that you could order on just about every high performance car you could buy. Some cars came with the 3.9x gears as standard equipment which let you put the power to the ground and still left the car very driveable at the same time.

go to http//pro50.meridian1.net to see their products

FYI - I have an '06' GT with the automatic trans and am going to get the 3.90 gears from Pro-5.0. They are priced at $199.99 and according to MUSTANGS & FAST FORDS magazine, the Pro-5.0 gears are supposed to be stronger and higher quality than the gears offered by Ford.

I just went from 3:55s to 4:10s two days ago and had Steeda UPSs installed at the same time. The RMP difference is barely noticeable. You will just shifting at slightly different speeds with them.

I get better gas mileage now than with the 3:55s and the car performs as if it were designed to have the 4:10s before the EPA influence showed up.

Trust me. Go with the 4:10s. You'll never regret it.
